Thank you Fifine for sending us a review sample!
We have been blessed with the opportunity to review many headsets at varying price points from multiple manufacturers. While we have reviewed many Fifine products, the H9 is the first headset of theirs that got to check out. In the past, we have been impressed with their microphones and the detachable omnidirectional microphone sounds great on the H9. If you don’t need the microphone, you can detach it. Just make sure you don’t lose it!
We streamed Samurai Warriors 4DX with the headset and you can hear the microphone in action here - https://www.youtube.com/live/LPCmp55MGlg
The H9 Gaming Headset can work with computers and PlayStation consoles using the USB connector. The USB control box features a clip with a mute switch and volume controls for the sound and microphone. There’s a virtual 7.1 audio effect button. When playing games with the 7.1 effects enables the sounds were more distant and had unnecessary echo effects. I wasn’t impressed with it, but it’s there if you want it. The headset has a braided four foot 3.5mm cable that can be plugged into the Switch or any other portable device of your choosing. After connecting the USB control box, you get an additional six feet of braided cable to work with.
Strong Points: Works with all of the consoles; three colors available; detachable microphone
Weak Points: Virtual 7.1 effect is a bit gimmicky
The H9 is available in three colors: black, pink, and white. If you’re looking for RGB lighting, you won’t find them on this model. The H3 or H6 models can fulfill that requirement. All of their models seem to have a smiley face on the ear muff. That is unavoidable. As a girl I find it cute, but not everyone may appreciate it.
This headset is very light at around a pound and that’s due to the mostly plastic construction. The closed back ear muffs are cushioned with a fake leather feel. The top part of the headset is also padded with the same material. Overall, I found it quite comfortable. My ears are small enough to fit inside of the cups but those with bigger ears may find it uncomfortable. The inside of the cups are marked with L and R for your convenience. The microphone goes on the left hand side.

When plugging the H9 via USB into a Windows system it will be registered as your new default sound device. No drivers are needed as its plug and play. For the Xbox you can plug the headset into your controller’s 3.5mm jack. PlayStation consoles can connect via controller or USB.
The sound quality is decent and is a little light on the bass. For a headset under $40, there’s little to complain about. In fact, as I’m writing this review, the headset is currently available for less than $31 on Amazon. If you order through Fifine’s website, you can get a 10% discount and a thirty-day return window. Fifine backs their products with a 2-year warranty.
