Leap of Faith

Thank you Picture House or sending us a screener to watch!

Leap of Faith is an hour and twenty-six minute long documentary about Christian conflict transformation. The Colossian Forum has gathered together twelve pastors in the Grand Rapids area and the only thing in common about them is their geographic location. Various ages, genders, races and homosexuality are in the sample group. It didn't take long for the true message of LGBTQ+ acceptance to overshadow other issues like abortion, racism, and politics.

The movie opens with the Bible telling us to love our neighbor as ourselves and then shares the statistic that 85% of people stopped talking to a close friend or family member after the 2016 election. I can personally relate on that stat and it's sad. We're definitely living in a broken world that seems to celebrate lifestyles that go against what the Bible teaches.

I'm not sure how long this group of pastor met for, but different seasons were shown and they definitely built some camaraderie during their time together. While they did some fun activities together like scavenger hunts, they also did some soul searching ones that solidified their convictions and ultimately hurt the feelings of others. Joan, the lesbian pastor was upset that only four pastors were willing to officiate a gay marriage. I was saddened that only four pastors were pro-life. Three of the pastors/reverends did not think it was necessary to believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. Only one pastor claimed to be able to recite the books of the Bible in order. It's no wonder why America is losing its moral compass!

The reverend Michael that seemed to be running the event has two adopted adult children with his son identifying as gay and his daughter as non-binary. Because of his kids, Michael's views change and he comes to the conclusion that he must be true to himself and his family. The LGBTQ+ friendly views cost them a few financial donors, but his conscience is cleared.

I was happy to see that everyone in the group was treated with respect and I truly am thankful for the handful of pastors that have not caved into the worldly views over God's word. The guilt trip was real and I was able to feel the awkwardness in the room despite being on the other side of the screen! I honestly couldn't wait for this film to end.

We're all sinners, we all need redemption through Jesus (who did bodily resurrect). I cannot stand behind a church that celebrates sin. If you share these views, you will not enjoy this film. If you still want to see the movie it's currently playing in theaters and has a PG rating. I don't recall any language and there is no sexual dialogue. Some of the pastors/reverends are seen drinking wine while others stick with water.
