Thank you PlatformaVR for sending us an Early Access review code!
Your goal in Mace and Grace is to protect your kingdom and some lady in a pink short dress from knights in boxer shorts who are being hurled at your castle. What you do with these airborne knights is up to you. You can catch them and throw them at other incoming knights. You can hurl them into spikes to impale them. Ripping them apart limb by limb is an option as well. All of those options don’t require any weapons.
Along with knights, you’ll sometimes have power ups coming your way which you have to catch to activate. Weapon options include clubs, axes, crossbows, maces, and spears. With spears, you can impale incoming knights. Maces often leave remnants of former knights behind on them. Dragon breath is pretty fun to acquire as well.
Strong Points: Three game modes and an online leaderboard
Weak Points: You pretty much see all that this game has to offer in fifteen minutes
Moral Warnings: With blood enabled, this game can be very bloody and gory as it allows dismemberment; when blood is disabled confetti is shown instead; knights are shown in boxer shorts; the lady you’re protecting is wearing a short dress and moans with pleasure if you attack her
The graphics are really colorful, especially with the blood disabled. In lieu of blood, confetti pours out of defeated knights. With blood enabled, you’ll see blood spraying everywhere and will have the option to rip knights apart limb by limb. The lady you protect parades around in a short pink dress and moans with pleasure if you strike her.
Currently, there are three game modes: Rage, Survival, and Gore. In Rage mode, your time is limited so you’ll want to keep your rage up and score as many points as possible. Striking multiple enemies at once is good for your score and rage levels. The Survival mode lasts until you either let a knight get past you or you fail to dodge an incoming bomb. The Gore mode leaves you with your bare hands and you have to tear apart as many knights as you can before the timer runs out.

In its current state, you can see everything that this game has to offer in about fifteen minutes. I’m not sure that it’s worth the $9.99 price tag. The only reason to keep playing is to try and get a better score and a higher placement on the online leaderboards. I do like how your old score is displayed so you have something to aim towards beating.
As the Early Access progresses, the developers are planning on adding more weapons and game modes. There’s not much activity on the Steam forums yet but they do have a Discord server as well. I look forward to seeing how this game improves with feedback from the gaming community.
