Thank you Tamago Fukunaga for sending us a review code!
Eggs: All Guns Broken has a thin story plot of you playing as a hung-over capybara who must successfully fly ten thousand inches to graduate from the E.G.G. academy. This is no simple feat as there are sixteen different enemy/bosses to contend with. You’ll have to shoot down giant revolvers, enormous skulls, tanks, flying cows, tyrannosaurus rexes, and dancing girls. Along the way are one hundred and twenty platypuses that you can rescue or kill. For some odd reason the game seems to only give you credit for killing them. I couldn’t determine any benefits from rescuing them instead.
The backdrop is a runway and opposing forces will pop up in random spots and in waves. Unfortunately, some of the enemies spawn on the edges and are hard to shoot down as a result. As you clear more and more waves, your adversaries will get tougher.
Strong Points: Cheap and unique shoot ‘em up; global leaderboards
Weak Points: Partial gamepad support
Moral Warnings: Some language (*ss, sh*t); you play as a hung-over capybara
There are card power-ups that appear after successfully dispatching foes and they can aid in restoring your health and fuel levels. As you shoot, your hangover headache will worsen, but you can boost to reduce the negative side effect. While boosting makes you go faster and do more damage, it also consumes fuel. When your headache is maxed out, your guns will jam for a short while.
You’ll earn funds by destroying enemies and you can spend your money to restore your fuel, health, or purchase a bomb. To avoid spamming, each successive purchase will be significantly more expensive than the previous one. As you shoot down foes in succession you'll increase your damage multiplier. This comes in handy for boss battles!
At the main menu screen you can change between Classic and B17 skins and the FPS or Shmup Style. There’s an option to go through the tutorial and even with the box unchecked I was forced to sit through it multiple times. By replaying after a game over, the tutorial is skipped.

For controls your only option is to invert the Y axis. The game is designed for a keyboard and mouse and has key mappings displayed on the game screen. While playing with a controller is possible, the key bindings are not clear as to which buttons purchase health, fuel, or bombs. Clarifying this for gamepads would make this game much more enjoyable with a controller and on the Steam Deck.
Like the premise of this game, the sound effects are goofy. The narrator’s voice acting is good, but is often riddled with language such as *ss and sh*t.
In the end, Eggs: All Guns Broken is a flawed but fun experience. There are some glitches and shortcomings, but the developer seems to be actively patching it. I hope that gamepad support will be better implemented. With an asking price of $0.99 I can’t complain too much.
