Thank you Toplitz Productions for sending us this game to review!

00 Dilly is a crash test dummy from the 1950s that was abducted by aliens, experimented on, miraculously brought to life and then sent back to Earth. Not to be outdone by modern crash test dummies, he wants to prove his worth by completing up to fifteen different challenges on the Grand Canyon.

I found the concept of hurling around a crash test dummy to be intriguing so I wanted to check this game out. However, after spending over an hour playing this title and completing most of it within that time, I must say that it’s a missed opportunity and only worth picking up at a discount. Maybe it’s more fun in short spurts, but I played it on an hour long live stream and found it more frustrating than fun.

Highlights:

Strong Points: Interesting concept
Weak Points: Tedious and sometimes confusing level design; difficult challenges; inconsistent physics
Moral Warnings: Violence against a crash test dummy; some suggestive billboard placements

Each level begins with 00 Dilly on a catapult and you have to guide him to various trampolines, spring buttons, mattresses, slides, and occasionally rockets to ultimately land through a target on the backside of a billboard. If you manage to get 00 Dilly through the bullseye, you’ll see his silly placement on the front-side of the billboard. One of the billboards has him coming through the fly of a pair of jeans and it was a bit suggestive.

Between the catapult and final billboard are several obstacles to avoid and enemies to watch out for. Some of the objects you need to interact with, like trampolines, are surrounded by TNT barrels that explode on contact. Explosions, along with bad aim or timing will send 00 Dilly back to the catapult. There are no checkpoints, as the levels need to be completed in one attempt.

Gorillas and Bears will hurl items like toilets at 00 Dilly so he’ll have to steer clear of them. Goats on the other hand are helpful and will roll a big rock to planks of wood to send 00 Dilly into the air and onto his way to the goal.

Score Breakdown:
Higher is better
(10/10 is perfect)

Game Score - 68%
Gameplay: 10/20
Graphics: 7/10
Sound: 7/10
Stability: 5/5
Controls: 5/5

Morality Score - 83%
Violence: 8/10
Language: 10/10
Sexual Content: 6.5/10
Occult/Supernatural: 7/10
Cultural/Moral/Ethical: 10/10

Each level has a giant gold star to collect along with various other tokens and items to gather. The more you accumulate at a time will give you a combo bonus. Your score is heavily influenced by the number of items collected during your run. The best I got on a level was a B and many of the D’s and C’s I left be because I didn’t want to replay them. Though this game is short, there is some replayability by improving upon your previous scores.

The visuals are adequate. There’s a green swoosh behind 00 Dilly that is supposed to make him look like he’s going fast. Instead it just looks like he has a green flag attached to his backside. The sound effects are inconsistent (like the physics) and sometimes play noises and other times do not. The background music is a bit repetitive too.

Ultimately, this game is a disappointment. I definitely don’t think it’s worth $9.99 and the console variants are even more expensive. If you really want to hurl around a crash test dummy, I recommend holding off for a sale.

Christ Centered Gamer looks at video games from two view points. We analyze games on a secular level which will break down a game based on its graphics, sound, stability and overall gaming experience. If you’re concerned about the family friendliness of a game, we have a separate moral score which looks at violence, language, sexual content, occult references and other ethical issues.
