Thank you Stealth Fitness for sending us this product to review!
We reviewed the Stealth Core Trainer in 2021. As much as they advertise making exercise fun, I came to the realization that planks are not fun, no matter what video game you play alongside doing them. With that said, Stealth Fitness offers an impressive library of four free and thirty-five premium games to slightly distract you from your abs screaming in pain. The premium membership is $39.99 a year.
The Stealth Squat focuses on the squat which affects the quadriceps femoris, gluteus maximus, adductor magnus, soleus, erector spinae, rectus abdominis, hamstrings, gastrocnemius, internal obliques, external obliques, gluteus medius, and gluteus minimus muscles. The advertising suggests that exercising with Stealth products a few minutes a day goes a long way in toning these cool-sounding muscles.
Strong Points: Makes exercise a little bit more enjoyable
Weak Points: Only two games available
Moral Warnings: Cartoon violence
Aside from assembling the Stealth Squat, you’ll have to download the Stealth app to your phone. The assembly is pretty straightforward with attaching the phone holder and doorstopper. The app has a video explaining how to use the Stealth Squat Trainer. I also recommend watching the video on how to play games which will explain the different game modes, leaderboards, and how to share your scores on Facebook.
Currently, there are only two Squat games available to play. Given the impressive library from the Stealth Core Trainer, I’m sure more games will be coming along with premium titles. All of the titles offer an endurance mode and a countdown mode. If you want to play for a specified amount of time, play the countdown mode. In countdown mode, you have the option of increasing the time by a set amount daily.
Here’s a breakdown of both games:
Skate Chaser: This game has a vertical layout. Your goal is to collect the same colored gems and items as your skateboard. As you pass through colored barriers, the color of objects to gather will change. If you collect something of the wrong color, you’ll have to do some squats to get back on track. Occasionally, you’ll skate through some tunnels, in which you'll have to perform squat pumps to navigate them quickly. The visuals are futuristic and I like the electronic background music in this game.

Tough Runner: This game is meant to be played horizontally. There’s no story here. You’re just running through a desert and must avoid big rocks, spiders, cacti, and snakes. You’ll also have to swim through water and mud at times. There are also situations where you need to army crawl or climb up ropes. To earn points, you’ll have to collect the water bottles and energy bars that are inexplicably all over the desert. Some rocks have numbers on them and in order to receive the prize on top, you’ll have to do the specified number of squats. Along with squats you’ll have to do pulses and arm twists to burn calories, tone muscles, and earn points on the leaderboard.
From a moral standpoint, there’s little to worry about here. There’s no blood or gore shown when running into objects like stones, cacti, spiders, or snakes.
Between the Stealth Core Trainer and the Stealth Squat Trainer, I prefer doing squats. With that said, ten minutes of squats are just as painful as a few minutes of planks. The video game backdrop does distract from the discomfort a little bit.
