Thank you be quiet! for sending us a review unit!
I’m dating myself here, but I have been building computers for over thirty years. Throughout my decades of experience, I have worked with computer cases ranging in different tiers when it comes to cost and quality. I’ve used computer cases that included questionable power supplies for $50. Not surprisingly, these cheap cases had low quality metal that cut me on numerous occasions. Small form factor cases are not fun to work on either for different reasons including not having much space and proprietary or limited component options. The be quiet! Light Base 600 DX is both spacious and extremely well designed. I can also vouch that I did not injure myself while transferring my components from my Fractal Design Define S2 Vision RGB to this case. Like any computer build, be sure to allocate a couple of hours to setting it up properly.
The Light Base 600 DX case does not include any fans. Unless you have 120mm fans of your own that you plan on using, I highly recommend picking up the LX model that includes the fans preinstalled. The LX model is $25 more, but buying a three-pack of Light Wing fans will set you back more than $50. I can vouch that the Light Wing LX fans are amazingly quiet and the RGB is pretty on them. We were sent a DX model case and a three-pack of 120mm white Light Wing LX fans. Because we got the fans separately, they are facing in different directions on the case. The fans to the right of my motherboard are reversed and have a thin RGB ring showing on them while the fan to the left of my motherboard has a wider ring. Between the two I think the thinner RGB ring looks nicer. After installing multiple RGB apps (EVGA Precision X1, I-Cue) I was able to get all of the RGB components in my case to be purple. The Light Base 600 DX case has multiple RGB headers so you can control the color of all of your fans by pressing the button in front of the case. The three pack of Light Wing LX fans also includes one if needed.

By default, the Light Base 600 DX is configured for a tower based setup. If you prefer a desktop style PC, you can easily remove and reposition the feet to make it so. While I didn’t utilize it, there are adapters included to vertically mount your GPU if desired. However, the vertical mount PCIe ribbon is not included and you'll have to purchase that separately.
If you like all-in-one CPU water coolers, all-in-one cooling is effortless with the Light Base 600 DX’s spacious design allowing up two 360mm radiators. If you prefer air cooling, CPU coolers up to 170mm tall will fit in this case. Graphics cards are getting bigger and bigger, but the Light Base 600 DX can support models up to 400mm long.

Strong Points: Spacious and versatile case that supports multiple configurations; silent fans; appealing design; quality build
Weak Points: The GPU support bracket blocks a couple of my SATA ports on my ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero motherboard
My ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Hero ATX motherboard was a breeze to install. However, I am saddened to report that I had to sacrifice the use of two of my SATA connectors in order to use the included GPU support bracket. Thankfully, I wasn’t utilizing all of my SATA connectors so this was just a mere annoyance. My husband has a similar motherboard and the Light Base 900 did not have this issue. I was able to install my SATA hard drive and two of my SSDs without issue. Instead of springing for another drive bay (sold separately) I opted to use double sided sticky tape to secure my third SSD along the case floor. My NVMe drives stayed on my motherboard for the entire journey without having to be reseated.
Most of the screws are tool-less thumbscrews, but the drive bay will need a Philips head screwdriver to utilize it. There are lots of nooks and crannies to weave cables and wires through for a clean look. I had to install three rubber grommets to line the cable hole to prevent damage to the many wires needing to go through it. I cannot stress enough how much I love the closing door to hide the unavoidable mess of SATA and power cables.

The tempered glass side and front (or front and top if you’re in desktop mode) look great. There is a protective plastic film on it, but we learned the hard way it won’t do much against a forklift as the Light Base 900 that was originally sent to my husband was shattered and damaged from the delivery carrier. Glass is pretty, but still fragile!
The front connections include (2) 3.2 Gen USB-A connections (1) 3.2 Gen 2 USB-C, 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack, power button, reset button, and a button for controlling the RGB color settings. You can set the RGB to rainbow, orange, white, red, cyan, green, blue, and purple.

be quiet! lives up to its name as this case is 5dB quieter than my Fractal Design Define S2 Vision RGB when idle and 2dB quieter when benchmarking. The CPU core temperature in the be quiet! case was 85.8C compared to 87.6C in the Fractal Design case. GPU hotspot temperature was a degree hotter in the be quiet! case from 88.6C to 89.6C. To measure this, I took a base room noise level sample (32dB) and ran various benchmarks including 3DMark, Cinebench 2024, along with a torture test of Prime 95 and Furmark running simultaneously for 10 minutes. For what it’s worth, all of the benchmark scores ran slightly better in the be quiet! case. HW Info was used to track temperatures throughout the entire process.
Overall, I’m quite impressed with the Light Base 600 DX for its sleek looks, spacious design, and quietness. Cable management is easy, even for cable novices like myself. I like the white design and now I’ll have to slowly migrate my peripherals from black to white variants!
