Thanks to Ultimate Games S.A. for the review copy!
Your adventure is simple; you must make it to the top level of the tower of Zhor to gain the last light of the world. On each level you’ll be pitted against a cornucopia of monsters and, in some cases, environmental, environmental hazards, all determined to stop your run to the top. You start off with just one character available, but you can unlock more along the way. The one you start off with is the knight. All the others are shrouded in darkness and you can’t tell who or what they are.
Gameplay is easy to get. You move around the level with the left thumb stick, and you can dash using the A button. Your weapons fire automatically as you come within range of your enemy. You stay on the move while your weapons do the work. Sounds easy until you have a screen full of foes and seemingly no place to run. Another cool thing about God of Weapons is the inventory management screen.
Strong Points: Super easy to pick up
Weak Points: You don’t get health back after each round
Moral Warnings: Fantasy violence
Speaking of weapons, there are plenty to choose from. There are 12 types that are split up between the various character classes. You can have 12 weapons at a time. These include; swords, axes, hammers, bows, cross bows and magic staves.
This top-down isometric game allots your character so many squares on screen to which you can equip your weapons and items. Each item takes up so many squares. So, if you have a sword that’s four squares long, that takes up so much space. Between levels you are granted new squares that you can arrange in any way that you want. It’s simple but fun to use. Nothing overly complicated.

The music and sound are a bit blah. It does the job but is remarkably stale. The weapons sound and the music aren't memorable and don’t have that visceral sound or feedback that you would want. I just turned the game music off and played my own soundtrack via Spotify. All things said, the music and sound are generic and not memorable at all.
Visually it’s the same as sound, not good, not bad. It just is. Nothing stands out. Nothing memorable. The art direction is simple. It just does the job. I wish they would’ve taken more of a chance with the graphics (and sound for that matter). These types of games aren’t really known for their graphical prowess. I wonder what could’ve been done if they used a more powerful engine, or some sort of art style that would stand out more. Perhaps a hand drawn look would’ve been better.
What it really comes down to is if the game is fun. After the first 3 or 4 levels, it picks up and ends up being fun. It’s challenging and relaxing to be honest. I don’t need my games to be all octane, go, go, go! Sometimes I just want to chill and play a game, and this is one that you can do that with. It’s a mix between Vampire Survivors and Brotato. And that is a good thing. I wasn’t expecting much, but overall, but I’m pleasantly surprised. Give this game a go. You might be surprised. I recommend a purchase. It’s good for the price of entry.
