Thank you Jackbox Games for sending us a review code!

Fibbage was first released in 2014’s Jackbox Party Pack. The enhanced Fibbage XL was included in Jackbox Party Pack 4 which we reviewed on the Switch in 2017. The party pack bundles come with five games that average out to $5 apiece. If you only enjoyed FIbbage XL out of the bunch you can now own it for $9.99 on the Switch or I have seen it on sale for $4.99 on Steam.

Up to eight players can join across the world as long as they know the game’s room code. Twitch integration is supported if you wish to stream the game. The console is needed to setup the game room and handle the audio and visual elements. Players connect via the jackbox.tv website using mobile or computer devices. My mom and (blind) step-dad joined in for a couple of games and enjoyed it, though my mom had some cellphone issues with her screen timing out on her.

Fibbage XL
Highlights:

Strong Points: Fun party game; hundreds of prompts
Weak Points: Pricey for a standalone game
Moral Warnings: Some mild language (hell); sexual content can be disabled in the game’s settings; no language filter for typed answers; your goal is to deceive other players; tobacco references

This game is broken down into three rounds and the points per round increases to make it anyone's game. Your goal is to fool the other players that your answer is the correct one for each prompt. Fibbage XL includes hundreds of prompts like: “The mayor of Rabbit Hash, Kentucky is a _____.” The possibilities are endless.

Each player has a set amount of time to enter their response. If they can't think of anything they can have the game "lie for them". The point values for generated responses are reduced compared to original ones. Once all of the responses are submitted, it’s time for the players to vote on which one they believe is the true answer. Points are awarded for each player you fool and for choosing the correct response. While people are making their selections, they can “like” other entries they found amusing. At the end of the game, the person with the most likes will be awarded the Thumbs Cup.

Sexual Content: 8/10
Occult/Supernatural: 10/10
Cultural/Moral/Ethical: 8/10

Our family played several rounds of this game while visiting my mom and step-dad. To avoid any embarrassment we enabled the family-friendly filter which removes some of the sexual prompts. You may still run into some tobacco references and minor language like hell.

The price tag for this game is $9.99 which is a bit pricey compared to the Party Pack 4 bundle. However, if this is your favorite game out of the bunch it’s a worthwhile purchase. Especially if it goes on sale like it does for the PC version.
