Thank you Cinergy Entertainment for providing us with two tickets for dinner and a movie!
We're not too far from the Cinergy Dine-In Cinema in Wheeling, Illinois. It's super convenient to order food from the comfort of your chair and the staff will bring your meal right to you! On the opening day of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Cinergy was hosting a pizza party where pizza and soda were included in the ticket price for the 6:30 showing. My husband and I were treated to a couple of slices of pepperoni pizza. We filled our cups with Coca-Cola drinks of our choice and the pizza was brought to us before the movie began. The pizza that my husband was served was hotter than mine, but the slices were noticeably smaller. We wound up trading slices to make it more fair.
They're also planning breakfast and brunch specials with Yoshi egg-themed options. Throughout the month there will also be Mario-themed menu items including:
Starlight Ravioli Bites
Power Star PB&J
1-Up Fried Mushrooms
Meteorite Pizza
Princess Peach Mocktail
Yoshi's Brew (cocktail)
Super Mario Kids Pack (no topper)
I didn't see any of these options available during our visit.
Also, before the movie began we were handed collectable keychain mini LCD handheld gaming devices. At the end of the show, Cinergy raffled off a Mario-themed gift bag which had a Yoshi plushie in it. Everyone got a mini movie poster if they wanted one.
Tickets are typically $13 for an adult and $10 for children. The upcoming brunch screening is $17.99, which is a fair price for a movie and a meal. When booking your ticket you also get to select your seat before checking out. This is very convenient for planning the perfect viewing arrangement.
The movie itself was cute, but not as good as the first Super Mario movie. The animations and voice acting are top-notch. If you're a long-time Mario fan, you'll understand a lot of the references, but the movie can be just as enjoyable without being "in the know".
I liked Yoshi's character and how he (despite laying eggs) snatched a lot of people's food without them noticing right away. Lumalee makes an appearance towards the end, though I enjoyed their character development in the first movie better. Be sure to stick around for both after-credits scenes.
The Cinergy movie experience is definitely leveled-up compared to your typical movie theater. Highly recommended!
