Thank you GamersGate for the review copy of this game!

Tesla: The Weather Man is an amusing, knee-slapping parody based on the “War of Currents” from the year 1891. With George Westinghouse funding Nikola's AC generator as the superior power system, Thomas Edison, filled with jealousy, goes on a rampage with his DC powered robots in an attempt to prove that he is the greatest man in science. The story is being told by Mark Twain, who happens to have a way to help you along your journey to stop the madness of Thomas Edison. You take control of Nikola Tesla, who has designed a powerful glove that has the ability to control weather and gravity. However, in the past Tesla was afraid of the power that the glove possessed and scattered all the control modules throughout the land. The object of the game is to find all the controls modules and stop Thomas Edison!

Surprisingly enough, Tesla: The Weather Man is a very fun little game that made me smile and laugh many times throughout my playthrough. The storytelling and voice acting may come off as a little cheesy for some but I found it to be quite humorous and enjoyable.

Highlights:

Strong Points: Fun Gameplay; Hilarious Story; Catchy Music
Weak Points: Poor Animation
Moral Warnings: Explosions

Mark Twain will be helping you along on your journey and letting you know what to do next. When you begin, you will find a control module that gives you the power to control lightning. Throughout the game, you will stumble upon more modules that will give you different powers. Eventually you will be able to levitate objects and control the heat, rain and snow. Each of these powers are used to defeat enemies and complete puzzles. Also, there are pigeons scattered around that, when collected, will help you jump higher and glide. Lastly, there are different minerals that are scattered around and give you research levels. Every time you level up you will be given a research point that can be spent on improving different abilities.

Without a doubt, the gameplay is what shines the most when it comes to Tesla: The Weather Man. The controls felt nice and smooth and I appreciate the way the levels were designed. The obstacles and puzzles that were presented weren't confusing and are designed well. Honestly, I never had any problems with crashes or glitches and I didn't have any control problems. The flow of the game is great, since the level of difficulty and action increases as you get closer to Edison.

The graphics aren't as splendid as everything else in the game. I believe Tesla should have been more detailed and the environments could have looked better as well. Still, I liked seeing the paintbrush art style and I appreciate the direction that was taken. When it comes to the animation, I was let down. Tesla's movement looks more robotic than the DC powered robots that Edison created.

Score Breakdown:
Higher is better
(10/10 is perfect)

Game Score - 74%
Gameplay - 17/20
Graphics - 4/10
Sound - 7/10
Stability - 5/5
Controls 4/5 Morality Score - 90%
Violence - 6.5/10
Language - 10/10
Sexual Content - 10/10
Occult/Supernatural - 10/10
Cultural/Moral/Ethical - 10/10

The music is nice and catchy. Truly, I was humming many of the songs throughout my day. I feel like it really fit the mood and style of the game. I enjoyed the music so much that I would love to download the original soundtrack if available.

When it comes down to the morals in the game, I didn't really see any problems. The violence is very minimum and the worst you'll see is an explosion when Tesla dies. Also, the robots shoot bullets, but you won't see any blood or exploding body parts.

Overall, Tesla: The Weather Man surprised me greatly when I played it. I had a big smile on my face throughout the entire game and I enjoyed every single minute of it. Of course, there are a few things that bring the Game Score down but I suggest giving this game a try if you enjoy puzzle games.
