Thank you Pixelvex LLC for sending us this game to review!
Metagalactic Blitz is a game that is supposed to simulate dodgeball, except it's more than just throwing balls at each other. It is enhanced with lasers, bombs, and turrets. With 5 crazy arenas and 9 unique characters, it's got a lot to offer. It's filled with 3D top down action.
When you start a game, some dodgeballs will spawn in the middle of the arena that you are playing in. The way they are positioned depends on the way you configured the arena (you can decide whether or not you want there to be a center line that only lets balls pass through). Once the match starts, you can move around and start launching the balls that you have picked up. You can only hold three at a time, but you can use your abilities as a substitute. Each character has three, and they are all different. They can range from powerful lasers to crazy bombs.

Strong Points: Fun; multiplayer; it's free
Weak Points: Online multiplayer is dead, even though it is free
Moral Warnings: Cartoon violence
The maps that you play on are all different. There is one that has nothing special about it, and the other four are different in some way. One map can be destroyed as you fight. Another has a special mode that makes a robot fly around and grant power to anyone who picks it up. The 4th map is very long, and you can push people to different sections of the arena. The last one has special crystals that get tossed into the arena to act as very powerful dodgeballs. The crystals are powerful, and do something crazy when you throw them. All of these features can be turned off, so if you want all of them to be just a standard arena, you can do that.
One thing that I find unfair is the fact that some characters are much stronger than others. Most of the characters are about the same power level, but there are two that are much more powerful than all of the others. One of them creates turrets that fight for it. This may not sound strong, but if you keep them alive for long enough, they receive a huge power boost. The other overpowered character has an attack that fires a massive laser that easily makes you win. It also has a stun attack, so if you are good with combos, this character is even stronger.
The music is fitting. It’s not something I would want to pay for (you can buy it on Steam for $4.99), but it goes well with the setting.

The controls are good, and it has a tutorial easily accessible. In my opinion, the keyboard controls are better because you can aim with the mouse, but that’s just me. You can play with a controller if you want. One problem, though, is that the keyboard controls can only be used with player two.
It’s very family-friendly. There is obviously some violence, but it isn’t bad. When you get hit by a laser or a bomb, there is no blood or gore.
Metagalactic Blitz is a very fun game that you can play with your friends and family. I enjoyed it, and since it’s free, you can play it with your friends, too.
