Thank you Treva Entertainment for sending us this game to review!
In Top Model 3D you're an up and coming model in a loft with nine other ladies that you're competing against to be the best. At the end of each week a model is supposedly eliminated. I say supposedly since you only get to interact with your coach and one room mate throughout the game. No matter how poorly I did, I still managed to become the Top Model and land a modeling contract.
There are four areas to focus on in the competition. You must choose your specialty from make-up, fashion design, runway, or photo-shoots. I found the runway the easiest and chose that as my specialty. To successfully complete the runway sequence you either have to push the buttons in the proper order or slide the circle-pad in the proper direction. Unlike the photo shoot, the buttons and circle pad motions are separate tasks. Since they are combined in the photo shoot, completing the sequence within the time limit is trickier and there is less forgiveness for mistakes. Recovering from one mistake and getting a perfect score is usually possible.

Strong Points: Promotes healthy eating habits
Weak Points: Poor graphics; Could not master the make-up portion no matter how hard I tried
Moral Warnings: Some swimwear outfits are available
The fashion designs are relatively easy to complete. In this section you are given a theme and must combine clothing to match it. There's a bar to let you know how hot or cold your fashion idea is. You have to match the proper shows, shirt, swim wear, pants, dress, or skirt until the hot/cold meter is full.
No matter how much I tried, I was never able to master the make-up sessions. Even with the hot/cold meter present, I was never able to get it to the top. The goal in the make-up mode is to apply a similar make-up style to the example picture given. The proper shades of foundation, blush, eye shadow and lip stick have to be applied. The clock is running as a reference but you're allowed to take as much time as needed.
At the beginning of the day you're typically scheduled one of these tasks to complete. if your schedule is empty you can choose your task or pay eight play coins for a mental wellness day. I found it humorous that you have to pay to not play this game. If you do have a task to do, you're encouraged to grab an apple, pear, or a banana with you before you leave.

After five days of tasks or wellness days, you will be judged by a review panel. The weekly performance has fewer tries than the daily practices. Instead of nine or ten takes, you only get three. There are three judges that will critique your performance and will then ask you various fashion related questions. Even when I answered them all incorrectly, I was still told "Good job, you made it another week." As long as you do well on the run-way and put effort into the training, you should be able to become a top-model. When I bombed a week on purpose, I was asked to leave.
Every week follows the same pattern and doesn't offer anything new. Quite frankly, I found this game rather boring. Having more models to interact with and see them leave every week would have added some character development or some much needed drama. Instead there's a rival model who whines and the coach dishes out generic tips.
The coach is supposedly an experienced model. I fail to see how since he looks ugly. The 3D character models in general look bad and bland in general. The coach looks more like a clay model and got even uglier when I did a bad job at doing make-up. Not sure what was worse, his angry ugly face or Cooking Mama's fire eyes.
Maybe I was playing this game wrong since I was actually trying to win the competition. Perhaps this game would be more fun to intentionally mess up the make-up, or dress the models in clashing wacky styles. While this Top Model 3D is family friendly, it does allow you to dress the models into bikini swim wear in the fashion design mini-game. I doubt kids will be entertained by this title and there are better games on the eShop to spend $20 on.
