Do you like puzzles? How about action adventurer games? If you like both then you are going to love this remake of Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker but this time it is in HD.
Have you ever played a Zelda game before? If you haven't that is Ok, here is a super brief breakdown of story. Once again you are cast as Link or whatever you name your save file and you need to save the world from the evil Ganondorf. This time the gods flood Hyrule and you must travel the seas to recover the Master Sword. This a classic Zelda game with new twists to keep the story line entertaining.
Since I said that this was a remake I guess I will tell you about the updates. I can tell you the biggest update for this game is definitely the graphics. The style used is still the classic cell shaded look, but the colors are more vibrant. Not only is it more vibrant but it has a cleaner polish, so it looks more like an animated movie or show versus a flat 2D looking action adventure game. There are a few rough spots in the graphics like in close-ups if you look hard enough there are a couple harsh pointy edges. While dueling the final boss I encountered one of the most frustrating experiences a gamer can have: the boss clipping through the wall causing me to lose precious hearts. This problem is also attached to the wall randomly disappearing. Despite these problems the graphics are beautifully done and illustrate a full world that we have come to know in previous Zelda games.

Strong Points: Easy to learn controls, story line, replay ability, well polished cell shaded graphics
Weak Points: ow amount of direction for anyone that is new to Zelda games, inconsistent targeting at times, buggy graphics in final boss (disappearing walls and collision detection problems)
Moral Warnings: Polytheistic in game religion
Not only are the graphics a huge update, but so are the controls. With the placement of map and inventory on the gamepad touch screen, I found it was faster to make quick decisions on swapping my weapons around for my specific encounters. Using your boomerang you are now able to move around while being in first person view, making fighting certain bosses much less frustrating. The new motion controls can make aiming with your grappling hook a little difficult but can make it faster once you get use to it. If you desire you can turn off the motion control, so if you get jostled you don't blow your shot. The major problem that I encountered while playing this game was trying to lock down on a target. Where this becomes a big headache is when you are battling an enemy that likes to warp around the screen or a large number of enemies. At that point I was just mashing the B button to kill them all. Once you have mastered the motion controls and the target lock, you will be slaying the demons of Ganondorf in no time.
After completing the game in normal mode you can go back through the game and complete side quests that you did not complete before. Plus when you play through again you can play in hero mode, which makes it where you can only recover hearts by using potions. Not only is that the only change in hero mode but the enemies also do twice as much damage as what they did before. When you play through again your little sister can wear her pirate dress and you can wear your start up tunic instead of the traditional green outfit.

One of the little extra bits that they added to this version are the Tingle Bottles. Which are bottles that attach Link to the Miiverse, so you can send and receive information from other players. When I was playing through when I was having trouble with this one island I found a Tingle Bottle from another player that was also having problems with the same area. If you pick up a camera in the game you can take pictures so you can send those through the bottles as well. In the original game sailing around the seas means that you would have to bring out the Wind Waker every time you wanted to change the direction of the wind. In this remake you are now given the quick sailing option, but this only becomes available for purchase after you have completed your first dungeon. Then one of the other little extra bits is that the animations are now sped up. This is very subtle but shaves off time for when you are using tools like the grappling hook.
Wisdom, Courage, and Power make up the Triforce that was formed by the three gods. The story line is based on three gods making up the universe but we know from the Bible that God created the world. Being polytheistic is not the only problem with the morality in this game. There is magic not only used by the player but also the enemies like Ganondorf himself. On the box of the game it says that there is animated blood but blood is not shown. When the enemies are defeated they disappear in a purple smoke that you can say is blood but not really. Overall the morality of this game is mostly fantasy based but still warn your kids about it being polytheistic.
This game is much the same as what the previous version, but with some cool additions. For any Zelda fan this is a must add to your collection, and for everyone else, this will make you a Zelda fan.
