This is a free online Biblical card game. You can play it at http://www.unitygame.com/prophecy/prophecy.html If you like the game, the author just asks that you sign the guest book. If he gets a lot of signatures, Prophecy may get published like it\'s predecessor Unity. Even though this is an online game, you don\'t play against live opponents but against the computer. The object of the game it to match up the Old Testament Prophesies and New Testament fulfillments with the corresponding prophets. You can set how many matches it takes to win; the default is four.
How it all began...
The author of the game believes the idea for prophecy was given to him supernaturally. He says: \'In June of 1998, I suddenly awoke with these words in my head: \'Prophecy, a card game about the Old Testament Prophecies fulfilled by the Messiah\'. I was very surprised by this thought as it came out of nowhere! It must have been the Lord. About a year later, I created the game that you can play on this website. I play tested it with some friends and they loved it.\'
Playing Cards
This game is pretty much like Go-Fish, except there are some curve balls you can throw at your opponent. There are Demon cards you can use against the computer\'s prophets. There\'s Demon attack, weaken, discourage, and wanderlust. Wanderlust causes their prophet to come to your side for a bit. To bring them back they\'ll need to use the Jubilee or Sabbath rest cards. For protection there are good cards as well. There are Guardian and Warrior angels of peace, protection, strength and encouragement. Finally there are cards that allow you to take multiple turns.
Playing the game
When you start the game, you have to choose your two prophets. You can choose between Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, David, Zechariah and Daniel. You can customize the number of matches, hint enabling or disabling, and the option of letting the computer go first. I personally found the hints very helpful. When you are ready to take your turn, you must hit the start turn button. You must also tell the computer to take its turn in the same manner. If you find that you cannot make a move, you\'ll notice the ask for card button will be activated. When the computer needs a card, you will see a give card button become available. If you get stuck look at the hint area, it gives pretty good advice for your next move. There is a strategy guide on the site too.
Appropriate?
From a Christian perspective this is a biblical game and I see nothing wrong with it. It can be a great learning tool for getting to know more about the prophets and the fulfilled prophecies. This game can also be used to teach about spiritual warfare and how God will always prevail no matter what!
Overall experienceEase of use
The game was easy to play. There is an instruction page that will tell you how to play the game. The game plays well on 56K so you don\'t need a real fast connection to enjoy this game. The recommended resolution is 1152 X 864. The game will still run on lower resolutions but when you scroll up and down the text may get garbled on the buttons. There was no background music or sound effects and the graphics were pretty decent. The cards were nicely designed and easy to read. If you like card games or have time to kill, I would recommend checking this game out.
