MMORPG Wizard101 Reaches 1 Million Console Downloads

Renowned MMO publisher KingsIsle Entertainment announced that its most magical title, Wizard101, reached over ONE MILLION downloads within the first few months of the official launch on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo consoles, setting new records for the game’s 17-year history!

Previously only available on PC via Steam and through the official Wizard101 website, the recent launches of the family-friendly MMO to consoles invited a whole new player base to experience the Spiral’s magic. Now more people than ever can enroll in the prestigious Ravenwood Academy — exploring the realm’s many mystical worlds, meeting a roster of charming characters, and experiencing the beloved title’s magical gameplay.



"This milestone is truly telling of the strength of the Wizard101 brand and its player base," said Wolfgang Duhr, CEO of gamigo group. "This project was long-awaited by players worldwide, and we're happy to say it was worth the hard work it took to make it a reality. We aren't ready to put away our wizarding wands just yet though — there're many milestones ahead of us for Wizard101, KingsIsle Entertainment, and gamigo group as a whole."

Wizard101 is available to download for free on Xbox and PlayStation consoles, where players can enjoy free content up to the recently expanded Free-to-Play area in the Oasis zone of Krokotopia. As players progress further, content can be unlocked through the purchase of Crowns, the Wizard101 in-game premium currency, or through the purchase of the $19.99 Arc 1 Access Pass which includes all mainline quests and areas from the first arc of the Wizard101 Storyline, through the console storefronts.

The title is also now available on Nintendo Switch, available to purchase for $19.99 USD. This version includes full access to the first arc of the Wizard101 storyline. Accounts created on a Nintendo device will play on the same server as the other console players and requires Nintendo Switch Online membership to play.
