Mysterious Sci-fi Adventure THE SIGNAL: Stranded On Sirenis Announces First Playable Demo Planned For October’s Steam Next Fest

Developer Goose Byte also reveals a peek at the narrative, hostile environments, and survival gameplay in the first in-depth trailer as part of the Future Games Show Gamescom showcase.

Montreal, Canada – August 20, 2025 – Independent developer Goose Byte and publisher Spiral Up Games have today confirmed the first public demo for THE SIGNAL: Stranded on Sirenis will be released in time for October’s Steam Next Fest. The upcoming PC demo was announced as part of a brand-new narrative trailer for the story-driven survival game, which debuted as part of the Future Games Show’s Gamescom showcase.

This first in-depth look sets the stage for THE SIGNAL: Stranded on Sirenis’ tone and themes, introducing protagonist Jane who searches desperately for her brother while attempting to survive a strange and hostile planet. The trailer also introduces players to the voice of the planet itself, Sirenis, portrayed by Patricia Summersett, best known for her role as Princess Zelda in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, quickly becomes your companion and guide. Theodor Diea, Creative Director, Goose Byte said: “We are thrilled to finally be releasing a public demo for THE SIGNAL: Stranded on Sirenis during October’s Steam Next Fest. The journey to get here hasn’t been an easy one. We've spent years playtesting, and trying out wildly different designs to land on something that we feel has the potential to become the foundation of a truly timeless game. This is our love letter to games like Subnautica, Half-Life, Portal, and BioShock, and we hope players love the world we’ve built with their feedback”

Running from October 13–20 as part of Steam Next Fest, the upcoming demo is a result of more than four years of development, player feedback, and iteration, and represents a major milestone in the development of a survival game where mystery, discovery, and meaningful progression take center stage. The demo highlights THE SIGNAL: Stranded on Sirenis’ survival mechanics, layered exploration systems, and light extraction gameplay. Players will scavenge for resources, craft essential tools, upgrade their gear, and begin uncovering the truth behind Sirenis—and the signal that led them there.

Demo Features Include:

Narrative-first experience: Play through the game’s opening moments, offering over two hours of story-driven survival

Dynamic biomes: Explore diverse zones filled with docile fauna, aggressive predators, and remnants of long-lost visitors

Crafting and building: Create tools, resource processors, weapons, and customisable vehicles

Lightburn, with a theme song featuring vocals by Emi Evans (NieR, Dark Souls), THE SIGNAL: Stranded on Sirenis, sees players desperately searching for a missing loved one as their ship crash lands on an alien world that quickly reveals itself to be far more than it seems. They’ll need to scavenge, build, extract, and survive as they unravel the true nature of this sentient planet… and the reason it brought them there in the first place.
