Pixel-art LGBTQ+ ‘plotformer’ Quantum Witch Announces June 24 Launch Date

Step into a journey of self-discovery, choice, and consequence - and don’t worry too much about that portal, it’s probably nothing!

[London, UK - March 26, 2025] – Get ready for an adventure like no other! Quantum Witch, a pixel art, choice-driven adventure is coming to PC on June 24, 2025. Created by solo developer NikkiJay, Quantum Witch combines an emotionally resonant story with a healthy dose of fourth wall-breaking humour as the world’s first ‘plotformer’.

Quantum Witch follows Ren, a simple farm girl living with her bonded one, Tyla, in the idyllic land of Hus. Whilst on a fetch quest to find her lost flock of faer (lovable, sheep-like creatures), Ren finds herself pulled into a multiversal conflict between ancient gods. Every decision shapes Ren’s path, and influences the fate of her homeland.

This is a game where your choices really matter, and what you do (or don’t do) has direct consequences on the story. Convince a character to wear that beautiful flower in their hair? They will wear it for the rest of the game. Save a character from an otherwise harrowing fate? They will play an integral role in your story. Oh, and it isn’t a cult.

An inclusive game about choice and consequence, Quantum Witch features a host of lovable (and occasionally hilarious) characters, including The Skeleton Who Can See Through Time and the robot Clippers. From small decisions to world-altering shifts, the game emphasizes the power of choice, where even the simplest interactions lead to meaningful, unexpected experiences.

With the added help of BAFTA-nominated writer Paul Rose and video game journalist Stephanie Sterling, Quantum Witch blossomed into an even richer, more immersive adventure. Paul Rose played a pivotal role early in development, helping to shape the game’s tone and direction. Later, Stephanie Sterling joined the team and wrote one of the game’s key later locations.

"You know when you have that proverbial “good feeling” about something? I had that feeling before officially joining the project, and felt it all the more after coming aboard,” shared Stephanie Sterling, who wrote one of the locations in the game, “Writing for Quantum Witch has been a distinct pleasure, a chance to tackle some wonderfully edifying narrative ideas while having a lot of fun. It’s a funny and heartfelt game with something special about it, and I’m excited for people to see the full thing."
Features:
