Some time ago, I invited someone to plat BF3 with me on PSN. Dude was on my friend list. His response:

For one thing, the AI bots are infinitely better than BF3's campaign. There's not nearly as much spectacle, both in the graphics as well as the maps, but it feels much more controlled and balanced because of it.

I think it's that they decided that Battlefield wouldn't walk players by the hand. That could explain the constant dying.
