Great for talking hardware, hype, and games outside traditional genres.

Hi all,

I have been in the Christian gaming community for some time, and in fact run a community for female geeks/gamers. I got an Xbox for Christmas, after not being around one for several years, and I'm trying to build up my library of games, but I don't have many multiplayer games, and I'm not sure what to get. My library is pretty small so far, with Skyrim, Viva Pinata: TIP, Minecraft, Rock Band 3, and Dance Central 2.

I plan to get Halo 4, but right now, it seems like nobody is playing it much. I prefer to play Minecraft on PC, and have my own small server. I like games that are more cooperative than competitive, but realize those might be in short supply on the Xbox, so I'm willing to hear whatever recommendations anybody has.

Nice to meet you!

I suppose it depends on what you're willing to try. How adventurous are you? :P

I'm not sure what you mean by "adventerous"? I like good games, though I don't really like realistic war games, like CoD. I have played Halo in the past, and play pretty heavy fighters in MMOs, as well as Diablo, Dungeon Seige, and all the Elder Scrolls games.

I mean what genres are you willing to try; it looks like you tend to stay close to the RPG genre.

No, strategy is probably my favorite, but I've played FPS, music, and adventure games. I think I've just found the most multiplayer experiences in RPGs/MMOs.

When thinking of Xbox 360 exclusives, I really can't think of many good, cooperative games other than what's already available on the PC. Try all of the Halo games, Gears of War, and both Earth Defense Force titles.

Here's some games I've played that have an rpg feel with great co-op features:

Borderlands
Borderlands 2
Mass Effect 3 has a co-op feature where you team with others for horde mode.
Dead Island (very violent but fun co-op play)

Dead Island 2 (released next month in April)

Aside from the Kinect, I primarily play Xbox for the co-op games.

Here's a good website focused on co-op gaming:

What a great resource, thanks!

I asked my brother about getting Borderlands 2, and he replied that he already has it on PC and doesn't want it on Xbox, but I still might get it anyway. He's one reason I want to get more multiplayer games. Gaming's about the only thing we have in common.

Have gone back to the Avengers a few times. It looks like it has pretty good reviews.
