I will have the money to purchase one by the end of the month. A little background info would help:
I own a PS3, and am very happy with it. I am a fan of most of the PS3's major franchises, including Uncharted, inFAMOUS, LittleBigPlanet, and hopefully, soon, Metal Gear Solid. I've seen a few of these franchises migrate to the Vita, and now I'm curious. I've heard good things about it. Oh: I would be buying the $249.99 WiFi compatible model, as I absolutely HATE paying for subscriptions for things I already own, i.e. internet access.
I ask you: good idea?
I'm strongly considering buying a PlayStation Vita.

Well I suppose it depends on taste. Some people are just fine with a iPod Touch/iPhone; others prefer the 3DS because, well, Nintendo. The Vita, on the other hand, is pretty impressive, but it depends on how much you plan on using it.
I've tried one, I liked it, and I wouldn't be surprised if you like it too.

I bought one recently, and I'm enjoying it. The only really disappointing thing so far is that it doesn't currently play PS1 games (yet), so because I traded in my PSP I don't have portable Squaresoft goodness anymore. But this is something that Sony is going to fix in the near future. I've got quite a few PS1 games that I bought over PSN, so I'm looking forward to this.
It's a powerful little device with some impressive graphics. I'd say it's geared more towards the hardcore gaming crowd than the 3DS.

The hardware is killer on it, the next update should support PS1 games again. I have mine partially hacked with Vita Half Byte loader but if you're looking for the same hackability as the PSP you'll be disappointed. My favorites games on it are Rayman Origins and Lumines Electronic Symphony. Avoid Little Deviants.

I asked someone how much they paid for their Vita and the stuff they needed for it. He said he paid somewhere around $330 for it. And considering how much money I am getting paid, It is not in my budget right now. I think it is a good system and I want to get it. But it is not in my budget right now.

You HAVE to get a memory card for it so that's $30 right there for the 8GB one. So $250, plus $30 plus a game right? Not cheap.

My advice:
Either save up your money or wait for a price drop. Cause take it from ME. You won't get much.

I'm just going to get the chunky Vita and a memory card. I am a bit more inclined towards the hardcore gaming crowd (not the CoD Elite military-grade company tactic kid or the StarCraft 2 strategenius, but I own a more rugged system than the Wii and know what Steam is).
I can digest the price tag. I'm going for it.

I support your decision, but your reasons aggravate me.

Dude, I'd seriously wait until at least around the winter holidays. There is going to be an Assassin's Creed bundle that comes with the game and a memory stick around that time.ScotchRobbins wrote:I'm just going to get the chunky Vita and a memory card. I made the mistake of buying a 3DS last winter. Should have known Nintendo would release an XL version. auughh.
What PS Vita Slim?

It's common practice to release an updated version of the console/handheld after a few years. They're normally slimmer, cheaper, and ten times better than the original.DeadManReedeemed wrote: What PS Vita Slim?
