Why was a thread that was publicly criticizing a former member of this site locked?

You were telling him about Buddha, you were telling him about Mohammed in the same breath. You never mentioned one time the Man who came and died a criminal’s death...

It would be prudent to know that FFG saw the thread, and to be honest it was a little disrespectful.

Oh, I'm sorry. He saw a thread that was calling him out on lying in a public forum.
That's gotta be painful.
What would have probably been better is if he had had the guts to come and apologize, instead of requesting a lock on a site that he doesn't even use anymore.

I'm not sure if he requested the lock; I just know he saw the thread.Drewsov wrote:Oh, I'm sorry. He saw a thread that was calling him out on lying in a public forum.

Yeah... I don't really think it deserved to be locked. Most of the "ripping" was brought on by the guy's own actions. And many would call those actions a bit less than honest.
Let's not forget all the ripping this particular member did on Drew that went mostly unchecked.

A vegan atheist walks into a bar. Bartender says "Hey, are you a vegan atheist? Just kidding, you've mentioned it like eight times already."

I'm going to try my hardest not to just use this thread as a new place to keep bashing FFG.
I would like to respectfully share my view on the locking of the topic, now that the door has been opened. FFG is the head of a Christian gaming magazine that he claims has millions of readers. This is a Christian gaming website, so naturally many members here might find him to be a figure that is relavent to their interests. While I agree that in most instances personal impugnation makes for distasteful conversation, I submit that it is perfectly acceptable and expected in limited circumstances regarding "public figures"--people who have of their own accord placed themselves in the spotlight of the community in question. By running a magazine and trying to position himself as "the voice of the family in gaming" (the actual slogan of his website), FFG has voluntarily availed himself of scrutiny from the people for whom he presumes to speak.
I agree that the way we were expressing ourselves was not the way Jesus might have gotten the point across. I'm conscious of that. Some people raise my hackles a little too much for whatever reason, and FFG happens to be one of them. So sometimes I'm not thinking things through when I push "submit." I apologize for being disrespectful. If anyone has suggestions on a more appropriate way to call out deception, then I want to here it. I don't think I should have to back down on accurately describing his pretending to be a third-party fan of his own site as lying just because he visits this board and might get his feelings hurt by people calling it what it is, but I do want to find a better balance.
And while I am not a very believing type of person, I do mean it when I say I want to conduct myself more as Jesus would.

My PM box is open as well. I was on vacation when this all happened so I wasn't actively monitoring the forums and the fact that I was getting multiple complaints forced me to lock it before it went further downhill. Thanks for understanding.

Yea, It's understandable that you want to expose something shady going on. At the same time, I would hate this forum to be the forum that looks as though it thinks its better than others by continually posting why other forums are bad, instead of being the example that these other forums should have been in the first place. I do believe that we should discuss these things but I think it would be better for us and the gaming community in general if we simply reflect the better standard. Turn the other cheek and all that I guess.

Jeremiah 20:9-But if I say, "I will not mention him or speak any more in his name," his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.
