I am the newest member so I don't exactly know how things work around here....so if this is in the wrong place, or if there already is one of these topics, please excuse me.

I want to know everything about this game that you know...I have been looking for games of this genre and this is the most interesting to me (i already have CON and am planning on getting RTA). So pretty much all you have to say i want to know....be sure to include Christian ratings of it also.

Thanks a lot! :D

Welcome to the forums amigo. ^_^

I've got Dark Alliance for the PS2. It's not a bad game, if repetitive. That and all the female characters (except, in a major twist of stereotype, the final boss) are barely dressed.

Not sure if that's even the series you're asking about though.

From a believers standpoint Baldur's Gate would receive a failing grade. Like a 69 out of 100.

Blood, gore, enticement to lust are three things I recall. Extreme difficulty - unless you turn on some codes to equal out the lopsided game play.

Welcome!

Played both BGs and their expansions for hundreds of hours total. Played every sub-quest and finished both of the games over the years 3-4 times. Back in 1998-2002 they were _the_ RPGs; multiplayer-mode available, hours of questing and excellent dialogue.

But as it was mentioned in the previous post, from a believer's view-point you might want to think twice. Without spoiling it too much it's all about gods, demons, magic and all that jazz. And the protagonist has a major role in it all. Difficulty wise you can set the difficulty to whatever you please if I remember right, plus it's very level-based (old AD&D system) so if you face too hard opponents just quest around, grab epic loot and level up. Also you need to come up with a good party composition (6 slots) and use your skill- and attribute-points wisely according to your character's class.

Games utilizing the same game engine and basing on the Forgotten Realms setting were Icewind Dale (I & II) and Planescape: Torment. ID was just boring hack'n'slash while Planescape actually was nice. A good comparison point of more recent games come from Dragon Age on the fantasy side and Mass Effect on the sci-fi side. And it's no wonder since they're all from Bioware gang.

Baldur's Gates are for sure a nostalgic title and I for one get shivers from just thinking of their overall epicness, but on the other hand they are definitely not suitable for everybody.
