matt your family would become very very inbred witch causes birth defects and your oil rig would get overcrowded and that wouldn't be good.

Not to mention, you know, you'd be having sex with your family. Which is...gross.

I think the best spot would be a prison in the far north. Now before you naysayers say I'm just copying the walking dead, understand that I came to this conclusion before I even heard of the graphic novel, then the show.
If the cold weather affects zombies like it does us then you would have relative peace several months out of the year.
Not to mention that a prison would have it's own hospital, armory, living quarters (in abundance), room to grow crops, it's easily fortified, most modern prisons have their own power generators that can sustain the prison for weeks. They are surrounded by 100' high barbed wire fences. Each cell block can be locked down/barricaded as needed.
The only down side is you will need keys. You would have to find them on arrival which could pose a problem since you would have to enter during the day to have sufficient light to find said keys. If you are able to pull it off, you would have your own secure slice of prison heaven. They are huge fortresses designed to keep people in but it can easily do the opposite.
I thought of an oil rig off shore but the problem is that the weather would be too unpredictable and resources would be far too limited in the event you needed to scavenge. If you encountered a blizzard in the far north, you can wait it out in a prison. If you encounter a hurricane or worse on the ocean, good luck.
Fishing seems like it would work, assuming that the oil doesn't leak out and kill all the wildlife in the area, which would not be fun.

This is why i love North Dakota. What the cold doesn't kill the slightly crazed hillbillies with a couple hundred guns will. Not to mention we're so isolated it would hardly be an issue.

Totes, man. I mean, the frigid winters would freeze the zombies in their tracks--they can only be as strong as their bodies will allow--and you can just idly walk by smashing their brains in with a hammer.

Sometimes dreams really can come true!
Oddly, I've had friends in the past say "Man I would love for the zombie apocalypse to happen, that would be so cool! We would get guns and raid wal-mart and live off the food there forever."
I would look at them and shake my head and say, "You would really love having to constantly live on fear and adrenalin? To know and even worse, see your loved ones die and then reanimate as lifeless and soulless creatures hell bent on human flesh? You would love to be in a position where you would not have power or running water or proper toilet facilities."
I love their responses sometimes, they usually say something along the lines of if the power is off they would go and fix it and leave it on, the same with water. So you're telling me that suddenly you would have the knowledge to repair a downed power plant by yourself when I doubt that even a seasoned electrical company worker would have the knowledge to run the entire operation by themselves. Not to mention you would need keys for the facility and chances are, it's pitch black and zombies are everywhere.
I'm just saying, most people who are in love with the idea of the zombie apocalypse usually spend all day playing Call of Duty in their parents basement unaware of the real challenges and the cold merciless reality that would lie ahead.
True story bro.

Giving this more thought, those of you bent on survival might actually want to head to as hot and humid a locale as you can find and fortify. Consider it; corpses freeze, and are preserved. When they get hot, their decomposition rate sky rockets. After the initial infection and reinfection, those who fortified themselves enough in say, South America, would probably only have to hold out a few weeks before the zombies basically melted into goo. If even that long.
