Are you a alien? And if you are. Are aliens going to take over the world?! And if that's so. Can I have a block of cheese?

I'm not sure what this is in reference to.

No, I'm not an alien. My parents sometimes thought I was, but they were joking. I think....evered wrote: Are you a alien?
What makes you think they haven't already?evered wrote: And if you are. Are aliens going to take over the world?!

You can have a block of cheese even if they haven't taken over the world!evered wrote: And if that's so. Can I have a block of cheese?
Wait... no you can't. They haven't added cheese blocks to Minecraft yet. They really should, don't you think? I might build a house out of cheese....

I love my Kindle. <3 Much as I love paper books, the ridiculously low pricing on books for kindle means I can read more, and more often. So much goodness. And those look like really fun reads. ^_^
It also means you should read This. It's just good speculative fiction. <3
There's also a fair amount of free comics available. Usually just the first issue, but...free. It's my favorite genre.
Strange weapons of the past?

I may have to check it out.

It's late, and I'm tired. I tried to think of one, but my mind is drawing a blank. It is a fun topic to research, though. Do you have one you'd like to share?

It's one of my favorite book series, but I don't want to drum it up. May not be your flavors. Nietz is a good author though.

Are you referring to things in fiction that turn out to come true? Jules Verne was known for this, actually - the location the spaceship launched in one of Verne's novels was only a few miles away from Cape Canaveral, Florida!

If you're talking about the literal definition of alien, then yes. But then again, all the players are in Minecraft. Think about it - you've come to this unusual, blocky world with no memory of where you came from, and from what you can tell, you are the only one of your species in this world. You're clearly not native to these lands....
As for the lizard man aspect... I've always had an interest in playing lizardmen, even before I started playing Everquest (you could play a race of lizardmen called the iksar in that game). Many times, when playing RPGs to this day, I'll see if there is a reptilian option for a player character race. So when I learned how to design my own skins for Minecraft, of course I'd have to design one that resembled a lizard man - the one I designed in a 3D rendering program called DAZ Studio, which I use as my avatar on this forum. So my avatar in Minecraft is like a blocky version of the same one you see on the right side of this post!
And since I like role-playing, especially in on-line games, of course I'm going to role-play a lizardman in Minecraft!

That's interesting, but to me that's less a prophecy, and more a Jules Verne nerd involved in the planning of the space program. >_> I was more talking about when a random character accidentally fulfills a prophecy that isn't related to them or really fulfilled. But then I have to wonder if that actually counts as an accident or if that's really just the prophecy being fulfilled.Sstavix wrote: Fri Aug 11, 2017 6:56 am Are you referring to things in fiction that turn out to come true? Well. That was a senseless question. XD

They can be fun! So much fun, we can drag them out on occasion - say, once a year or so - and cover our whole house with them!

Actually, in one of our previous houses (before kids) we had a small outbuilding that I turned into my workspace. We had a string of Halloween-themed lights that were purple, green and orange that I strung up along the walls, where it met the ceiling. I liked to have those on while I worked on tabletop adventures or wrote.

I miss that little shed....

That sounds really cool. ^_^ I used to have a blue lightbulb up in my room, in lieu of yellow light. It was cool. Now I want to run some string lights along my ceiling...

I have always found this sport kind of cool. Two humongous guys trying to shove each other out of a ring. I really enjoyed the sumo wrestling portions of Twilight Princess. Unfortunately, E. Honda isn't one of my best characters in the Street Fighter games.

Harry Potter would be cooler if there were sumo wrestling in it!Starfire11 wrote:Harry Potter?

I loved the books, but I abhor the movies. The films don't do justice to the novels. My eldest daughter is enjoying the books now, too!
