This is the ideal game for shop-a-holics. The whole point is to create a mall and make money. This is not an easy task, you have to cater to your customer\'s wants and needs. Some like crowds and rent-a-cops and others don\'t. You have to find a nice balance and keep your approval ratings high. You have to keep your customers in the mall and, keep them coming back. To do this you can run ad campaigns and promotions. Make sure your mall is clean and well decorated, this will keep your customers in there spending their hard earned cash.
Like most strategy games you have to research your resources like janitors and rent-a-cops. The same applies for forms of marketing and mall attractions. In the full game you can replace the janitors with robots. You can also have cool attractions like roller coasters and haunted houses inside the mall. The full version will have two hundred pieces of scenery, sixty goods and services and twenty promotions to add to your mall! There are so many stores to available in many different shapes and sizes. In the demo you can have apparel, books, pet supplies, sporting goods, dentists, shoe and watch repair, banks, pizza and ice scream shops. To make things interesting, in the full game you can have restaurants, theatres, tattoo parlors, piercing and tanning salons, along with your typical jewelers, art and film developing shops.
The demo has a tutorial and one scenario for you to play. The tutorial covers the basics on how to build and add stores to your mall. (I like the auto wall feature.) It will also discuss how to read the mall\'s stats as a whole, and at the store level. You will learn how to adjust the rent and profit margins for your stores. This comes in handy when you are tight on cash. For the scenario, you have limited cash and you have to build up the mall. Your goal is to get one hundred and thirty shoppers to visit by the end of the year. To do this you will have to research employees and run some promos. Don\'t forget to make the mall pretty!
From a Christian perspective this game is pretty clean. However, the full version boasts of supernatural visitors and haunted houses. So I am not sure what else it might entail.
The game was easy to install, it uses your typical install shield. Some of the graphics are 3D rendered but most are not. The people and surroundings are not that detailed, or very impressive. For sound there was no background music and the mall sound effects are repetitive. There is no multiplayer in this game. There wasn\'t any mention of downloadable updates either. However, you can upload your malls and download other people\'s. If you like shopping or are interested in designing your ideal mall then you will enjoy this game. Otherwise there are better Tycoon games out there.
