Thank you Komodo for sending us a review code!
I have played my fair share of Hatsune Miku games, but this is the first puzzle variant I’ve been sent to review! Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S is a collection of over three hundred and fifty picross puzzles to solve. Many of the puzzles are imported from the mobile app, Hatsune Miku Logic Paint - MIKUOGI - , but new ones have been added as well. When you complete each puzzle, you’ll earn stars and often unlock artwork too.
If you’re new to picross, the game is easy to learn, but hard to master. The puzzles are available in various grid sizes like 5X5, 15X15, and 20X20 with them getting more challenging as the grids get bigger. Your goal is to color in the proper squares using the number clues on the left and top side of the grid. The numbers indicate how many squares in a row need to be colored.
Strong Points: Over 350 puzzles to solve; lots of unlockable music and artwork
Weak Points: It’s hard to tell what the completed 5X5 puzzles are supposed to resemble
Moral Warnings: Alcohol references (wine); some characters are showing skin with their outfit choices
Each puzzle has three missions and you get a star for each one. The first objective is to complete the puzzle, so if you do that, you’ll always get at least one star. If you don’t use any hints, you’ll earn another star. In order to earn all three stars, you’ll have to not mess up. Most of my puzzles ended with two stars.
So what do you do with these stars? You can unlock song tracks! There’s a built-in music player where you can unlock and listen to the tracks on repeat or shuffle. If you find a favorite song, you can set it as the game’s background music if you want. The default songs did grow on me, so I left them as is.

The artwork is rather interesting. The easier 5X5 puzzles have cryptic pixel art that is about as challenging to decipher as a three-year-old’s scribbled masterpiece. Fortunately, the bigger puzzles are more detailed and recognizable. The Special Puzzles require you to solve numerous 15X15 puzzle chunks before you see the complete picture.
Morally, Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S is pretty tame, but there are a couple of things worth noting. One of the puzzles is glass of wine, so there are alcohol references. The are numerous female characters in this game and their outfits vary on how much skin is shown. Nothing risqué, but some of the outfits are form fitting.
If you’re a fan of Hatsune Miku and enjoy picross puzzles, Hatsune Miku Logic Paint S is worth looking into. Between aiming for three stars, unlocking everything, and beating your previous completion times, there’s plenty to do here.
