Genesis 3:24
So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.
Man has not discovered where the garden of Eden resides until now. It\'s up to Adam Venture to enter the archaeological excavation site to unlock the secrets of paradise lost. With the help of the professor and Adam\'s assistant Evelyn Adam begins his dangerous journey. Temptation will taunt Adam and there are many scriptural puzzles that need to be solved to unlock the secrets within.
It\'s been a long time since I played a game that does not require mouse input. The controls consist of using the arrow keys for movement, the space bar to jump, and the ctrl key to crouch. There are caves to crawl into, ladders to climb and plenty of ropes and bridges to cross. Think of this as an Indiana Jones game with Biblical overtones.
The puzzles are pretty straight forward and relatively easy to solve as long as you can arrange the scripture segments into the proper order. The end puzzle is a matter of putting the creation illustrated puzzle pieces together and I needed help on that because I misinterpreted one of the drawing to mean something else. Other than that I was able to solve the rest on my own.
The game automatically saves your progress at check points so it\'s pretty painless to return to where you left off. I was surprised that I was able to sit down and beat this game in one sitting. It literally only took me a couple hours to beat it. There\'s not much replay value in this game after you beat it. From the looks of it, there will be different episodes or installments. I don\'t know how many chapters there will be to this series.
Graphically this game is stunning and boasts that it uses the Unreal 3 engine. I think the engine may be a bit overkill, but it certainly does look amazing. This is the best looking Christian themed game I\'ve played so far. The caves and caverns look creepy as they are intended to. The human models and animations look great. The engine handles the water, fire and textures with ease.
The voice acting and sound effects are well done. The caverns atmosphere is successfully scary as it\'s suppose to be. The music is fitting and appropriate but ultimately forgettable.
From an appropriateness standpoint this game is pretty clean as there is no blood or gore. Without spoiling the game I\'ll be intentionally vague. There is a gun scene so there\'s a hint of violence.
Adam\'s Venture is a fun and gorgeous looking adventure game. I have no problem recommending it due to the fun and non-violent game play.
However, with an asking price of $20 I\'m not sure you\'ll get your money\'s worth since you literally will have a couple hours of game time. If you can find this game on sale, I\'d say go for it.
