Thank you Sekai Project for sending us a review code!
In 2017, Sekai Project successfully Kickstarted the A Clockwork Ley-Line visual novel trilogy. We reviewed the first game, A Clockwork Ley-Line: The Borderline of Dusk and second installment, A Clockwork Ley-Line: Daybreak of Remnants Shadow. It’s highly recommended that you play through the first two games before playing the finale, A Clockwork Ley-Line: Flowers Falling in the Morning Mist. Without doing so, you won’t be familiar with the characters and their backstories. I do like how they offer a summary on the title page in case you need a recap of the story so far.
Like the two games, A Clockwork Ley-Line: Flowers Falling in the Morning Mist is a visual novel style game with several choices to be made throughout your ten+ hour play-through. Most of your responses won’t impact the story until the final chapters where wrong answers will kick you back to the title screen after seeing a bad ending. After completing the game and seeing the credits roll, you’ll be graded on how many correct responses you have provided. I had over 90% and a SS ranking. Wrong answers are pretty easy to detect as you’ll often be corrected if you’ve given an undesirable response. I played for roughly ten hours. There is some replay if you want to attempt to get all of the answers correct, but I’m happy with my current rating.

Strong Points: Interesting story and characters
Weak Points: Most of the choices you make don’t impact the story; I could not get this game to run on my GPD Win Max 2
Moral Warnings: Language (d*mn, b*stard, f*ck); magic use; blood and talismans are required to seal magical items; magic circles are prominently displayed
As with the previous games, this entry takes place at the prestigious school that only accepts students that have an affinity for magic. The Libra Lapis Lazuli Private Academy isn’t your typical school. After classes, the students are whisked away to their dorms and are not allowed to leave until the following day. A disciplinary committee strictly enforces these rules. The Bureau for the Investigation of Special Affairs and disciplinary committee often work together to solve cases affecting both the day and nighttime students. At night, the school magically transforms and students from another dimension appear and attend classes there. In this final episode, you’ll learn about the origin story of the night students and the fire the devastated the school twenty year ago.
The main character, Koga Michiru, is part of the Bureau for the Investigation of Special Affairs. His fellow bureau member and possible love interest is Ushio Shishigatani. Watching their relationship grow throughout the series has been quite entertaining. The two German visitors are still assisting the Bureau for the Investigation of Special Affairs in solving the mysteries at the school. If the school’s name is tarnished, so is their prestigious family name.
The story in this installment is quite a rollercoaster with many highs and lows for the students. There are moments of both hope and despair. I love how it has a theme of forgiveness and wraps up the series quite nicely in the end.
With that said, there are still many moral issues to take note of before embarking on this adventure. Language is still present and while I didn’t hear any blasphemy, I did see an F-bomb dropped along with many instances of d*mn and b*stard.

Magic use is prevalent throughout this series and anytime a magical item called a Mist goes rogue, it needs to be sealed with a talisman and blood. Magic circles with many symbols in them play a big role in this finale..
In the all ages Steam version there isn’t much sexual content aside from some kissing and well-endowed females. There is an adult DLC patch available, but I have not, nor do intend on installing it.
While I was able to run A Clockwork Ley-Line: Flowers Falling in the Morning Mist on my gaming laptop, another one of my portable computers could not launch the game. I didn't see anyone else mention this issue on the Steam forums so I hope its isolated.
If you’ve already played the first two games and are okay with the moral issues, A Clockwork Ley-Line: Flowers Falling in the Morning Mist will entertain you for a bit and give you a fulfilling ending.
