Vortex 9 VR is live on Meta Store!

VR online shooter with stylish brawlers, insane weapons, explosive shooting battles and cute pets has become available on Meta on 26th of February, 11:00 AM PST

Vortex 9 is a VR online shooter with stylish brawlers, insane weapons, explosive shooting battles and cute pets! Supporting cross play with VR, mobile and desktop versions.

Development of Vortex 9 VR began with the goal of bringing the established multiplayer shooter into virtual reality while preserving its recognizable style, fast-paced combat, and cross-platform ecosystem. The original Vortex 9 had already built a strong audience on mobile and PC, attracting over 10 million players with its colorful characters, over-the-top weapons, and competitive online modes. The VR adaptation was conceived as a natural expansion of that universe — allowing players to step inside the world while remaining connected to the broader cross-play environment. At the early stage of development, the team planned to keep the core third-person (TPS) perspective in VR, maintaining the visual identity and gameplay feel of the original version. However, as prototyping progressed — including work done during the Meta Horizon Start Developer Competition — it became clear that a first-person approach provided a stronger sense of immersion and more intuitive interaction in virtual reality. As a result, the original third-person concept was ultimately abandoned in favor of a fully adapted VR experience designed around first-person gameplay and motion-controller interaction. Following this shift in direction, the team focused on refining controls, optimizing performance for Meta Quest hardware, and ensuring stable cross-play integration with existing mobile and desktop players.

After extensive iteration and platform review, Vortex 9 VR is set to launch on Meta Quest on February 26, marking the next step in the evolution of the franchise into immersive multiplayer VR.
