Twisting Touhou Narrative RPG “Marisa of Liartop Mountain” Launches on PC, Nintendo Switch Today
TOKYO — Sept. 19th, 2025 — Marisa of Liartop Mountain, the gamebook-inspired digital tabletop-style adventure RPG based on The Touhou Project developed by Unknown X, launches today on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch for $14.99 USD. Touhou aficionados can opt for the deluxe edition for $29.15 on Steam and $30.99 on Nintendo Switch. To celebrate launch, both the base game and deluxe edition are available at a 10% discount for two weeks.
Harken back to a time when gamebooks captured the hearts and minds of fantasy enthusiasts. Roll the dice to determine the path forward as Shrine Maiden Reimu searches for her missing friend, Marisa.
All signs point towards her disappearance into a mystical book…with more than a few blank pages. Dive into a wondrous, unfinished story where Reimu’s actions write the next chapter.
Advance through five chapters of fantastical events by rolling dice to pen a tale across the wondrous landscapes of Gensokyo. Seek clues to Marisa’s whereabouts in massive mansions, mirage-filled deserts, and topsy-turvy circuses.
While a dash of luck never hurts, not all is left to chance. Collect 50 distinct dice with special abilities. Literally tilt the odds in Reimu’s favor with the odd-number-only Skepticism dice, and vigorously toss Anger dice, which promise higher yields. Discard debuffs with the Constancy die, and guarantee a zero with the Resignation die.
An assembly of magical mentors will guide explorers along their journey. Consider the advice of four Touhou heroines — Remilia, Sakuya, Patchouli, and Flandre — as each recommends traveling down a different path. Follow their instructions to build bonds and unlock new dice, but stay alert, as their guidance can lead Reimu into both unexpected situations and multiple endings.
With the digital deluxe edition, enjoy high-quality illustrations of both characters and concept art with the digital art book, and travel to fresh tunes the original soundtrack and two DLC songpacks from RD-Sounds, known for their 500+ tracklist across all Touhou titles.
“We aimed to balance Marisa of Liartop Mountain’s overall experience somewhere between the satisfaction of skillful strategy and the feeling of a lucky dice roll,” said developer toUnknown X. “We are beyond grateful for our online community that provided feedback for Marisa of Liartop Mountain’s demo. Their input helped make today’s launch possible.”
