Ex Sanguis Slashes into Tacticon with Blood-Soaked Strategy

Steam playtests are open, and you can feast your (bloodshot) eyes on a new teaser trailer!

17 JULY 2025 - LightBulb Crew's blood is pumping with excitement to share that Ex Sanguis will be taking part in Tacticon 2025 from 17 until 21 July. With this turn-based tactics roguelite, they return to what they are best known for, after their previous success with Othercide.

Ex Sanguis shares a similar art style where red hues paint a bloody tapestry on the battlefield, but it evolves the progression system and gives the player full control over how fast they want to move through the procedural levels. You can rush straight for the boss, or take your time to strengthen your team, gather resources and increase your chance of success.

🖥️
Ex Sanguis will first release on PC (Steam) in Early Access, with plans to bring the tactical roguelite to consoles afterwards. Stay tuned for more info on release dates!

Apply for the Playtest

Lightbulb Crew is ready to show that they are open to feedback and have launched a public playtest on Steam. See for yourself how long you can survive in the dark & gritty world, or prove that you're among the best tacticians out there. The Discord is the place to be to discuss strategies with other players.

“With the Tacticon build of Ex Sanguis we are going back to the epic turn-based combat of Othercide while introducing new mechanics and a whole new progression system. We are excited to see the reactions of the players!”
- Lightbulb Crew C.E.O, Anders Larsson

About The Game

From the creators of Othercide, Ex Sanguis delivers what the studio is known for: dynamic & epic turn-based combat in a visually striking world. Bleed the world to life; fight the agents of perfection and stillness through strategic blood baths in this evolved roguelite tactical RPG game!

In a world drained by the Purge, blood is defiance. Each drop of it paints the world in reds and blacks, as a reminder that life fights back. This is not just violence, it's a vivid rebellion in a pale, colorless world.

Key Features

Unique Visuals - Contrasting black & white surroundings are your tapestry as you use your blood-infused powers and slash open your enemies.
Use timeline effects - Speed up, delay or swap time position to impact turn order and outsmart your enemies.
Play with your surroundings - Use objects around you, explode them, ignite enemies, or block their line of sight. Making clever choices dramatically changes the outcome of each battle.
Leverage physical effects - Use knock-backs, forced facings, flanking bonuses, and damage-over-time to dominate every encounter.
Choose your own path - Pick your own difficulty through the map. Take on high-risk, high-reward missions, head straight for boss encounters, or slow down to gather resources to increase your chance of success.
A Roguelite loop adapted to turn-based combat - Breeze through the procedural levels to beat unique bosses and understand the world in Stasia. Even if you fail a mission, some progress is retained, opening new opportunities in subsequent runs.
