My wife and I are really into table top games.
We really want to get king of tokyo, it looks really epic!
Right now, we play a lot of harry potter and star trek scene it (I think that counts). I have 6 decks of munchkin and about 8 expansions for the game. We also have star flux, kittens in a blender, chez geek, and a sushi board game that is like tic tac tow on crack. We also have Settlers of Catan though we haven't played it in a while.
We're slowly building our arsenal.

I love me some Risk. Classic, or even the 2210 version...I'd like to try the Starcraft or MGS versions though.
Started playing Catan recently and I love it too.

West End Games' D6 Star Wars. I am up for that all day every day.
Though FFG's Edge of the Empire is very, very good in many of the same ways. I'm also in love with Shadows of Esteren and CthulhuTech.

If Star Wars: Destiny is a CCG, X-Wing is an LCG.

Apples to Apples is pretty fun, I don't know if that's table top though, it is a card game. But still, it's fun.

I really like Star Wars Edge of the Empire, it is fun and the storyline for this game is around the time of 4th and 5th movie.

If you're referring to the Pathfinder role playing game, it's actually my favorite flavor of D&D. While I've never played in any of Paizo's campaign settings, I do like their variations of the 3.5 rules.DallenMalna wrote:Has anyone ever played pathfinders? Is it any good?

You're in luck, then! Since the system runs primarily under the Open Game License, many of the rules are free and can be found right here. I don't think it's quite as convenient as having a hard copy of the book (or as pretty - the hard copy has some nice illustrations) but it'll give you a taste of what the game is like, as well as all the tools needed to get one going.DallenMalna wrote:Yes that's what I meant. i ask because I was looking into getting a tabletop rpg and from suggestions I thought I would start there.Sstavix wrote:If you're referring to the Pathfinder role playing game, it's actually my favorite flavor of D&D. Other than just reading all this and trying to just understand it all do you have any advice on where to start small and build from there?

1) Find a local gaming group that has an open chair and try it out yourself. You may ask at your local gaming store if they have any sessions for new players, or take a look on sites like Obsidian Portal for a gaming group in your area.DallenMalna wrote:Other than just reading all this and trying to just understand it all do you have any advice on where to start small and build from there?
2) If you're going to run a game and have a few friends, download a free module for first level characters (you can find some here) and give it a spin. It helps if you read the adventure ahead of time. As an added bonus, those modules include characters, so if your players don't want to create a new one from scratch, they can use one of the pre-generated characters.
