These may or may not be wargame miniatures, but I thought some of you might like them.

No worries. Some of those minis are for D&D. Most are for wargames like Warmachine and Warhammer.

Actually, the best minis I've seen sold online are the Master Series of minis done by fantasy artists like Elmore and Easley. Many of the sculpts are directly taken from pieces of artwork from these guys. I'd link it, but many of the female characters are not suitable viewing for the kiddies.

Oh, I knew where the thread went. I just didn't know it had been updated. O_o

What we have here is a failure for my brain to function.

I agree. The writing on the shield just adds that special touch. :D

Thanks!

Been a while since I completed any new projects so I have at last got something new to share.

When Warhammer 40,000 released its 6th Edition, I realized I would need to drastically overhaul my Black Templars army to keep it competitive. So, I decided to shift my focus from regular marines to assault marines. I also wasn't very happy with the paint job on the ones I had (An example can be seen earlier in this thread) so I decided to redo what I had so that they'd match my new ones, which I resolved to do a better job on.

So, I stripped the 5 I had and took them apart, Bought 2 boxes of new ones, Bought a Chaplain character, and got some more used ones on eBay and just redesigned them all from the ground up. I now have 2 Assault squads of 10 men each, and one of them is now complete. This squad has equipment meant to specialize them for an anti-infantry role.

The squad:

Another typical squadmember with bolt pistol and chainsword. Note the chapter badge on his shoulder... That's a decal. Normally it's incredibly difficult to get a decal to lay neatly on a surface like the shoulder pad that curves in 2 dimensions, but I learned a new technique of using decal softener and clear coat to make it look like it was painted on. (The left kneepads of each squadmember has a '2' decal done the same way.)
Image

The bases are custom bases using ones I got that are actually manufactured here in the area which I modified to look like stone broken up by sand and plants. (I hated the green bases they had before.)

Actually in this case it's a trade. I'm painting my friend's army in exchange for a few minis I need to complete my Bretonnian force. I'm not really sure what someone normally gets paid in dollars, but my impression is that a complete army costs a couple hundred to paint.

Been awhile since I shared any new projects so...

This is my second Assault Squad. They're equipped to focus on anti-armor.

The Chaplain I mentioned earlier, whose job it is to lead the other Assault Squad, is also done.

I also completed a Crusader Squad, and equipped them for close combat. (Yes, I like close combat. It's what the Black Templars do best!)
Image

One thing I did, which is hard to see in these pics, is to honor a friend of mine. You see, he plays the Crimson Fists marine chapter, whose color scheme includes, unsurprisingly, red gauntlets. In the fluff for Warhammer 40,000 there's a story of a unit of Black Templars and a unit of Crimson Fists who fought closely, side by side and became like brothers. Thereafter, marines from those units honored the memory of their friendship. The Crimson Fists of that unit wore a black Templar cross on their kneepad, and the Black Templars of that unit painted their left gauntlets red. So anyway, my friend started painting the kneepads of one of his Crimson Fists units with the Black Templar cross. So in return, when I was painting this unit of Cusaders, I painted heir left gauntlets red.
