Flushed Away last night (thought it was Happy Feet, but we were a day early. ). Blazing Saddles is far and away the best Mel Brooks movie, though I will give you Young Frankenstein as a comfortable #3, just behind The Producers.The last movie I watched was The Adventures of Mark Twain, a very surrealistic claymation flick that mixes in bits of Twain's writings with a concocted story about Twain and some of his literary characters taking an airship to meet Haley's comet. The movie oscillates between brilliant and terrible, though most of the brilliance is attributable to the genius wit that flowed from Twain's pen. From a cinematic standpoint it was a mixed bag, though mostly negative; the animation was competent enough, but the acting and soundtrack left much to be desired. The soundtrack was nothing but pure-80s synth-pop, definitely idiosyncratic with a move set at the beginning of the 20th century. The voice acting was for the most part atrocious, with the sole exception being the competent performance from the actor giving life to Twain's voice. (A good thing, too, for as I noted his narratives are what make this movie worth watching.)
By far the best scene is adapted from Twain's controversial religious commentary, The Mysterious Stranger. This scene shows Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn interacting and playing with Satan, all the while discussing the relative (lack of) merits of humanity. It's not the most thought-provoking piece, but it is strangely chilling nonetheless.
Overall it's not a bad movie, and if you're not familiar with much of Twain's writing it's probably worth a viewing. Then again, if you're looking to familiarize yourself with Twain's work I'd recommend that you check out a collection of his short stories/musings. You'll get all the benefit of his sharp with without the distractions of a tacky plot or poor acting.

Actually, I've seen all of them except for the ones with Sean Connory and Casino Royale. And I don't mind the mushy parts, except when they're unclothed and in......place where you snooze...
I think it's bleh because it's wierd. And I'm not immature. I've seen plenty of mushy movies (not to mention violent) and not been fazed. Would you stop drawing conclusions before I even have a say? And I don't really enjoy being called immature, so please stop. I know I've said that before.

Well, I'm judging the ones I've seen, not Casino Royale.
