Brokan eats and drinks. Unless anything interrupts them, he will remount and buckle up when it is time to go.

Arthfael skillfully leads the group the the many twists and turns through the underground labyrinth. It seems that he knows this place completely from memory given the fact that he hasn't looked at a map or guiding instrument once. The remainder of the trip is uneventful. Eventually you get to what seems to be just another part of the tunnel. The scouts dismount and Arthfael draws a glowing stone from his bag. You seen him touch the stone to a portion of the wall that seems ordinary. When the stone connects, however, that section of stone begins to glow. The outline of a door appears and the stone within the outline seems to vanish. The sunlight filters into the cave. With the goggles on, you notice that the magic adjusts to the light level. Oddly, you see the tunnel that is enveloped in "pitch black" and the world beyond equally well.
After everyone dismounts one of the scouts collects the goggles from everyone. Your eyes seem already adjusted to the light, another testimony of the power of the goggles.
Beyond the tunnel, you feel the crisp, cold mountain air. You see bare stone and a light dusting of stone with the occasional shrub. The sky beyond is a clear blue.
Arthfael walks with the party outside of the tunnel, goggles still secruely on his face.
"This path is safe, you can feel free to camp here"
(he motions to the right where a small clearing has been made in the stone next to the entrance)
"The next entrance to the underdark is at the bottom of this canyon"
(if you look, far down at the bottom is a massive cave entrance. A lightly worn road leads into the mountain)
"If ever you find yourself in need of an escort, come to this wall and place this stone against this one"
(he shows you a smaller version of the stone that he used to make the magic doorway, he then points to a section of the rock that doesn't seem to stand out)
"It will open the door. Once the door is opened, it will alert my people that the door has been triggered. If we are able, we will be here within a day's ride. It has been my honor and privilege to serve you all. Ingruhn sends his thanks as well."
He holds the stone in his hands then hands it to Minather.

Kratimos patted the thick hide of the boar as a sort of good bye. Never has pork been such a trusty steed.
"Our thanks to you," Kratimos says to Arthfael, "And to Ingruhn."
Kratimos turns toward the wild and looks for the best path to take, whether it is through the mountain or around it.

Livia dismounts and hands the goggles over. She walks over near Kratimos and looks out at the view. She is amazed that it took nothing to adjust to the light outside. She readjusts her packs and bow waiting for instruction.

Minather places the stone in his bag, and pulls out the scroll. He examines it. A look of subdued surprise passes over his face. He touches the center of the paper, and whispers in Draconic.

Arthfael and the other scouts say their goodbyes and leave you with some supplies for the night (food and water for one day each). As they walk through the entrance to the tunnels, the stones begin to reform and all that now remains is what appears to be an indistinguishable rock face.
With your back to the former entrance, ahead of you is a worn path that leads around a bend alongside the mountain. It heads in a northern direction. To your left of the path is the edge of the mountain, a cliff face that descends about 300'. To your right, the mountain continues to its peak (about 200' above you) and carved into the stone is a 10' x 10' area where parties have made camp before. There is a small fire pit in the middle.

"Comrades, it is four hours past midday. There appears to be a camp site nearby. It may be wise to hold this position until morning. Here we have a cliff to one side and a mountain to the other, with space already carved out for us. We have high ground and will be able to spot enemies should they try to ambush us. We won't be able to hope for a safer place in these woods. We should make use the daylight we have left to prepare and begin strong at sunrise."
"I would like to take one person with me to scout out the area. I want to know exactly the path we need to take and what we're in for before we march headlong into unknown territory. Whichever among you has the sharpest senses, that's the person I need. The rest of you must work on setting up camp, securing this location, and establish a plan for keeping watch in shifts. Do not let the camp site out of your line of site. You will die if you get lost, and you will get lost if you venture off. Whoever volunteers to come with me will stay by my side no matter what."

"Very well. Let us not waste any time." Brokan begins walking down the trail.
((Okay, so unless something surprising happens Brokan's intention is to spend as much time with Kratimos scouting the area as the remaining daylight hours allow. His goals are to find the safest, most direct path to their destination as he can; to get a sense of the terrain; to locate any potential enemies or dangers; and overall to gain any useful information that will help prepare the next day's journey.
If any skill checks are needed to accomplish those goals, let me know. I'm assuming I at least need a survival check to make my way through the woods.))

As Brokan and Kratimos go off to scout, Livia begins helping to set up camp. Unsure if it is safe to start a fire, she gathers wood and dry grass and sets them up to light a fire, but does not light them. "It is probably best for us to hold off lighting this until Brokan and Kratimos return. Just in case they find something that our fire would be a beacon right to us." She removes big rocks from the campsite to make better sleep in the bedrolls and then sits and waits for the men to return. Occasionally she glances around to find Guy and smiles at him, and then goes back to what she is doing.
