Daaaaang. :D That looks amazing! I love the Deadzone stuff, and the way you've got it painted and modified looks great. ^_^

And what's the gravel stuff? You've got it looking like legit asphalt.

This is my tiny hut:

Which is kind of insignificant compared to Arctic's compound...but still. XD Took a metric poop-tonne of work too, for very little result.

I dunno man the effort you put into it shows. The only suggestions I would make is to put a base on it and paint it.

The asphalt in my building is a basing material sort of like gravel sold in a plastic box similar to Gale Force Nine stuff. I meant to drybrush it with a medium gray but I got lazy...

I hadn't intended on painting the roof...but I guess it needs something. I finished a shack earlier, and hope to have pictures up shortly.

I actually wanted to ask you about basing, since I've seen a lot of buildings and structures in Warmachine batreps that don't have a base, so the models can move around/near it freely.

Anyway, I just finished painting Rhupert Carvolo, and after the clear coat dries, I'ma take pictures. :D

Looking forward to seeing it!

I like to base my buildings because I feel like they're more sturdy when they have something to be anchored to. That one I did with the courtyard wouldn't have been possible without a base. I also like the way they look better. There is a tradeoff... If you're playing on a table that's meant to look like sandy terrain but your building looks like it's in a grassy meadow, it won't match... but I can live with that.

I've got a 'concrete bunker' I'm working on, using some foam packaging that I've given several coats of grey paint to... Need to add some window slots and a door to it next. I'll post pics once I finish it, but it's a bit of a long term project.

I need to get some modelling plaster so I can use these rock moulds I have...

I'm working on a couple Games Workshop scenery pieces that I've been keeping in a box for years. They're discontinued now so I guess that makes them even more like unique... maybe.

One of them is a ruined wizard's tower that I plan to give an overgrown and abandoned look, with vines climbing the sides of it made from kite string. Hopefully it'll turn out awesome...

Sounds cool!

That sounds awesome. ^_^ Here's my latest stuff:

Tiny shack:

Image

I was aiming for a sort of aged look when I "stained" it. I'm done with it, but now that I've had to take pictures of it, I'm debating on whether to go back over it with a drybrush in a barn red color, just to make it look like it was painted red at one point.

Image

I'm also aiming for more detail, what with the "firewood" and bit of rope. Though along with the red paint, I'm debating on whether to base it or not. I think I want to. And I need to go back and make the wood either look like stacked boards, of firewood. This is why I need to not have things I'm finished with sitting on my desk...

Image

Rhupert Carvolo, the Piper of Ord. I...absolutely love this model. <3 From his bare feet (which you can't see to great in the picture) and chest, to the bagpipes and claymore strapped to his hip...he's a boss. XD I wish he was more than a solo (though I feel like he'll be pretty good in the game).

Image

Major Victoria Haley, whom I also think is a cool model. ^_^ Not as cool as Rhupert perhaps, but still awesome.

Image

For some reason, I didn't get a back shot of Rhupert...could be due to the massive paint chip I have yet to repair on his hip. -_- As much as I love metal models for their heft and solidity, I'ma start calling them "Non stick". Even with washing and priming, paint seems to want to come off. It was especially bad with Rhupert, who's sword kept coming off (with a nice chunk of paint each time) until I pinned it.

Seconded. Great work man. I think basing the shack is a great idea whether you do the paint or not.

If I may offer some advice: If you want to give something a previously painted look, you'd be better off painting it, and then sanding off most of the paint. That's called "distressing" it and it will look more realistic than drybrushing. The reason is that in real life, paint chips first from raised surfaces, so if you paint it first and then sand it, that's the effect you'll achieve, with the paint in the recesses being the last to go, just like real life. On the other hand, if you drybrush, then paint will ONLY stick to the raised surfaces, and it won't look like it was once painted red and faded, it'll look like somebody rubbed a red barn up against it.

The only other suggestion I'd use is if you want to have a stack of firewood, go outside and find real sticks so they look like natural logs.

I especially like your Haley. Very well done!

Thank you guys. ^_^

I will always take advice. :O And I very well might try painting it a barn red, then hitting it with sandpaper, since I think I could do that without too much chance of messing it up. Definitively finding some tiny twigs...I'm almost embarrassed I didn't think of that myself. It's a terrific idea. And requires very little work. XD

I'm actually proud of Haley. I think she's my best painted model thus far. I can't figure out what I did differently than normal, though. XD Maybe I was more patient, or sommat.

This is the Grail Reliquae I did for the month of April for the Garagehammer challenge.

A Grail Reliquae is a Bretonnian unit where the peasants gather up the earthly remains and artifacts of a renowned Grail Knight, and carry them into battle in his honor. During the big Blood in the Badlands campaign I had a character named Guy deLyonesse (Pictured on page 1 of this thread) who was killed in the final battle. I decided he is the fallen knight who is the subject of the reliquae.

nice work, how did you fare in the competition?

This one isn't a competition, more like a challenge to get an army painted. Each month, you post pics of about 200 points' worth of models and those who do so get their name entered into drawings for prizes. There's also a bigger prize at the 6 month mark and one at the 1 year completion mark.

Amazing paint job! Their fluff I find both awesome and slightly disturbing...But their painting is sweet. ^_^ I love the tiny skill on that one guy's base. XD
