Mission: Impossible III

I got all three movies in one pack, so tonight I decided I might as well watch the third. It was fantastic fun once again. I'll admit. There is more than just a little something lacking in the plot department. But it was never intended to be a "smart" spy thriller. Just lots of people burning through ammo in some really sweet, clever ways.

And boy, are there some clever stunts in this film. Every single action scene is thrilling and well thought out. One of them has stayed with me ever since I saw it in theaters and won't be leaving me any time soon.

I just have to mention...the camera work was absolutely fabulous. In the style of the Bourne films, except even better. There are so many dazzling, breath taking moments that are made mostly because of the camera work. Wow.

And the opening scene = chills.

The first half hour or so of Catwoman. Would someone rip my eyes out with a spork?
Copies of this movie can be shown as proof of the idiocy of Hollywood executives. F, for failure, for flunking, for finding a way to ruin my sixteen years of movie watching experience.

Yeah. That one is supposed to be in many "Worst Movies of All Time" lists. And I think Halle Barry won a Razzie for her acting performance. Way to go, Hollywood.

Come now, we all know this movie wasn't made to have any sort of cinematic merit.

Doesn't stop it from belonging in a litter box.

I just watched Shoot 'Em Up. Fun, but the name says everything.

I loved the movie because of how intentionally over-the-top it was. XD

As for me... I saw... two movies today.

August

I... don't even know how to describe this movie. There are base elements of the story setting that I'm still unclear on, but it was interesting all the same. Generally solid character interaction... but I'd put the film under being driven by character revelation than character development. Still... it just didn't do enough to really gain any spectacular mention from me.

The Forbidden Kingdom

I confess, I love martial art films. Among martial art actors, I highly admire Jet Li. Still... the movie was not a Jet Li movie. Nor was it a Jackie Chan movie. The story wasn't all that inspired in my book (following a rather formulaic approach), and the character interactions were about the same. Still, the movie was fun. The very Chinese Epic setting... along with the supernatural infusions... put the film above the bar... even if not that far.

Ugh. It was the supernatural elements that turned me away.

Citizen Kane

It's clear why AFI called this the best movie of all time twice. It's not my all-time favorite, but it's as close to perfect as a movie can get, despite a slightly disappointing ending.

Its not a really a funny movie, it had its parts (like with the other dad at the end of the movie).

It was funny. I lol'd. Doesn't come highly recommended (especially since the plot was predictable through and through... and I was multitasking while watching it)... but it was funny. Some good acting. Interesting enough premise, I suppose.

Very offensive, slightly disappointing, but great ending (in that I really was happy for everyone).

Finished the last hour of the Godfather III. It's been at least 3 months since I saw the first two hours. For some reason I never really got around to finishing it until now.

Our true enemy...has yet...to reveal himself.

Hamlet 2

While I didn't find it superior to Tropic Thunder, there were still many, many laughs to be had at a time when I needed to laugh. It served its purpose, and served it well.

Supremely unimpressive and disappointing--one of the worst of the year. Everything could have been a lot better. I scored it a C- because I'm in a good mood.
