Step Brothers
Wow. Just... wow. Absolutely hilarious, rude, offensive, inappropriate and amazing.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall was better... but still.

What was the last movie you watched?

You were telling him about Buddha, you were telling him about Mohammed in the same breath. You never mentioned one time the Man who came and died a criminal’s death...

Mean Girls. It was really funny, even for a "chick flick". But it had a lot of very funny lines, and the last twenty or thirty minutes are quite heartfelt. This is probably Lindsay Lohan's best movie. B

Ok, quite a few in the past few days:
Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle
Slightly disappointing. I'm not sure, it just wasn't as funny as I expected it to be. It was still funny, but didn't live up to the hype. B-
Team America: World Police
Horrific, shocking, irreverent, and incredibly funny. A lot of the appeal is due to the use of extremely impressive puppetry. B+
The Usual Suspects
It wasn't what I expected, and it was a little hard to follow, but it was great all the same. It took a bit to really build the plot, but the payoff was one of the best plot twists I have ever seen. B
Cloverfield
Lame. Had some exciting parts, but I never affected me much. It felt like kind of a missed opportunity. C
Death Race
Awesome! The most exciting movie of the summer. B+

The Dark Knight! It was really good; definitely a lot better than Spider-Man and its sequels, which means it's in my top 3 favorite movies. Heath Ledger was really good as the Joker... at least as good as I expected, and creepier than I expected. A++

Dark Knight
Yep. Fantastic. Again. Each time I pick up more and more in the detail department. Last time I see it in theaters, though.

I don't know what expectations I had going into that movie, but I ended up loving it. I laughed... a lot. Personally... I wasn't disappointed at all with White Castle. Guantanamo Bay changed things up a bit on me, but I wouldn't quite call it disappointing, either.Heartless_Gentleman wrote:Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle

This... I agree with in full. I can't recommend it to anyone here because of how thoroughly inappropriate it was... but it's stuck with me more than any other comedy (and is full of quotable [given the right company] lines).Team America: World Police

"A flying limo...now I've seen everything."
"Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?"
"No..."
"Well then, you haven't seen everything."
But in seriousness, I liked Pinapple Express way better for a "stoner" comedy. And I saw it for the third time today.

I can't technically recommend it, because most of the humor is absolutely appalling. Most of it was just plain goofy (though it was shocking), but some of it really crossed the line. As far as quality, it's not quite "good" but it's Boll's best film by far and shows that he is much better at comedy than he is at anything else. In addition, my respect for him is increased because he has no problems with making a cameo in which he makes complete fun of himself. i did laugh quite hard at some of the goofy parts, but the two extremely tasteless scenes made me very uncomfortable.

Let's see if I can remember all the movies I've seen recently:
Kung Fu Panda - Unique visual style, and some pretty good voice acting, although most of the 'Furious Five's' talent is wasted. Jackie Chan has three lines. I counted. It still gets a B+
Made of Honor - Waste of time. Cliche, offensive, and numbskulled. The only redeeming value in it is Patrick Dempsey as the lead. D+
Leatherheads - Charming, but quite erratic. B
Smart People - For a dramedy, it was quite depressing. A bit standard for this sort of film, and the character of Jane Hartigan was completely unneeded, I still enjoyed myself. B-
Son of Rambow - Good performances by the child actors. It was a nice idea, but didn't really completely work as a film. C+
Hot Fuzz - Extremely hilarious movie. The homage/spoof on the buddy cop genre remains true to form, especially with the chemistry between Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. That being said, the gore was almost too much, especially for this type of send up. It was meant to be funny, but it wasn't. B+
Juno - I can see why this movie has been hyped up so much. It's adorable. It's also fairly overrated. The best things about the movie is the dialogue, and the performance of Ellen Page. Everything else falls a little flat. I didn't feel that anyone the movie learned anything. B
Next - If you've just finished this film, you've just been cheated. Interesting premise, completely failed execution. Left me scratching my head with plot holes. And the ending was not what I needed after sitting through two hours of mediocre acting and dialogue. C-

I agree with you on Next. But I didn't like Juno. it doesn't deserve to be in the same sentence as. No Country For Old Men and There Will Be Blood.
Le Samourai
An interesting and exciting French film about a contract killer with the instincts of a samurai. It was a great premise and filled with great suspense and a very cool main character, but it ended a little too fast. B
It Happened One Night
A delightful and thoroughly entertaining love story. Frank Capra FTW. A-

Yeah... The Ruins was pretty dumb. And... um... I read the book, too (because it was supposed to be, and I quote, "one of the best new horror novels of the 21st century," and supposedly "ranks with The Shining"). Riiiight. Plot holes filled the thing.
Also... Heartless... I refused to watch Next because I knew what it was based off: Philip K. Dick's short story "The Golden Man." The idea of a man who can see into the future is the same, but that's it. The main character is a mutant who doesn't talk. It's pretty much amazing. Read it if you have the chance.

Wow. Although i expected little more from the director of Die Another Day and xXx State of the Union. The ending was a rip-off and really made me feel like I wasted my time.
Um...
Stripes
Disappointing. I was expecting something a lot funnier. B-
