Pillar - The Reckoning Live DVD
well this is definitely one of my favorites, but this huge tv....well.....it kind of pixelated it a bit....(because being an HD tv it was showing a lot more pixels then the dvd had to offer)...so it wasn't the best way to watch this bad boy but I can't watch this too many times...and I may copyrite this next sentence here...."It is physically impossible to watch that thing too many times!"
WORD!!!!

Interesting concept... until it devolved into something more like Jack-Bauer-in-a-horror-movie. And, oh yeah. If you're going to have a horror movie, you've got to have one of two things: tension or body count/gore. This movie had gore... but it wasn't shocking (well... unless you haven't seen the red band trailer, since everything in there that made people scream and want to puke is just about what makes the movie scary). And it had no tension. So I'm pretty much baffled as to what they were going for.
To be fair, the ending was pretty cool, even if it fell into M. Night Shyamalan's School of Twists.

You were telling him about Buddha, you were telling him about Mohammed in the same breath. You never mentioned one time the Man who came and died a criminal’s death...

Like Stranger Than Fiction...it was not nearly as funny as I thought it'd be....
and right now I"m watching Kutless Live from Portland it's an awesome Live DVD...not nearly as awesome as Pillar, but on the upside It's not nearly as Pixelated as Pillar....So out of all the concert dvds I brought with me to my bro's...and in the respect of the huge tv....I think this ones the best for the environment....but then I still have one more to try out....
oh oh oh oh here it comes and SECOND CURTAIN DROPSS!!!

Freaky. I didn't play full attention to the whole of the movie (stupid PSP playing PSP kept distracting me), but... ugh. Weird. Could have been better... could have been worse. No score from me since I generally hate this kind of movie.

The Last Samurai
Yeah. I thought this movie was great when I was 15. And now I see it for the mediocrity that it really is. It was Dances with Wolves with the Japanese. Mediocre acting, uninspired directing, and some really stereotypical moments are pretty much what make up this entire movie. Thank God the script was half-way decent, or this would have sunk down into total suckiness.

Hey, I'm 15, and I thought The Last Samurai wasn't that good, for most of the same reasons you mentioned.
Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. Funny movie, but can't match up to Zoolander. B-

Sooooo... I got this... remembering that it looked decent on an ad some time back... not remembering anything about it.
I then realized that it was starring Keanu Reeves... and wanted to return it. I'm not much of a fan, y'see.
Much to my surprise, the movie turned out to be very good. Knockout performances from most of the other cast really helped. A solid story with twists having a power level of OVER 9000... was also nice.
Basically, it's my second favorite film starring Reeves (Constantine being my first pick).
Uhm... looooots of f-words, though.

I actually quite disagree with your sentiment regarding that film. Yes, Zwick's story resembles Dances With Wolves, but in the same way that film resembled Lawrence of Arabia. His direction has a thoughtful, artistic quality to it, just as it did in Legends of the Fall; the writing is intelligent and philosophical in its way, but never heady and over indulgent. In fact, where the film skimps out is in its ending, which is not what it should have been, but rather, what we expected it to be.Obigone wrote:The Last Samurai

Of course, this is from memory. I have the movie right here... and I'll watch it in the morning. Tell you what I think after it's fresh in my mind.
Last movie I saw?
Pineapple Express. Again. Funnier the second time around.

And I quite disagree with yours, so I guess we're even. The ending was, frankly, pathetic. And the rest of it was mediocre at best. Excellent message or not, I found it to be uninspired and poorly filmed.
Anywho.
Stranger Than Fiction
I haven't seen this in over a year, so I'm glad to see that after watching it again I can still justify it being in my favorite movies list. There are some flaws with it, no doubt, but on the whole I find it extremely entertaining and very thought-provoking. Easily Will Ferrell's best film.
