About 2/3's of Juno on YouTube. Went to watch part 7 but then Fox decided to yank it. And I can't go out and rent it cause my parents would be like "z0mg, n0 wai".

It was pretty good. And I'll probably just end up watching the whole thing at my friends house anyway.

Wristcutters: A Love Story

Pretty interesting movie with an awesome sense of humor and soundtrack.

Basically, the idea is that, if you commit suicide, you get sent to some plane of existence that is just... off somehow. And looks strangely like it was filmed somewhere in Nevada or Southern California.

Lots of great cinematography and acting, plus Tom Waits, and an amazing story that starts out with a guy looking for his girlfriend. This all framed in a bleak looking world where no one smiles. Yet humor runs rampant, even if it's darker than most movies of its type. Romantic comedy this is not.

The fact that I think this movie should be rated PG-13 does not hinder my opinion of it. Well casted, and well acted (Nikki Blonsky and Michelle Pfeiffer are great), although I found John Travolta to be a bit..distracting. No, not like that. The only thing that hindered the film for me was the beginning, which seemed a bit lackluster.

Horton Hears A Who

Very cute. Although it had those annoying random moments (The 2-d sequence and the singing at the end) the voice cast won me completely over. There were some moments where the film strayed a bit from its spirit, such as the MySpace gag, most of the film retained an overall feel that was wonderful and straight out of the book. The original book was always my favorite of Dr. Seuss's, and I was delighted to see it fairly faithfully adapted on-screen.

The Forbidden Kingdom

Jackie Chan. Jet Li. What more is there to say? As a person who has lived in China for half of his life, and someone who greatly enjoys some of Jackie's classic Hong Kong cinema, this movie was a treat. The plot seemed a little convoluted with a few plot holes, but that's okay, because the original legends that it's based on are the same way.

I didn't like it that much at all The fact that she had almost no feelings for the "Thing" or "it" she had... she never referred to it as a child at all in the movie.
Also how it just made it seem like teen pregnancy was normal.

In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale

I had very mixed responses to this movie. There were points in the film when I was genuinely interested and pleased, then there were other parts where I wasn't thrilled... then there were the occasional "Let's take this from Lord of the Rings" moments that made me sad. I still like Jason Statham, and I was amazed at how many popular, though not generally top-tier, actors were in it.

Generally interesting story. Good characterization as a rule. Occasional bits of weak voicing of dialog. Generally bland fight scenes.

This movie was amazingly good. The acting was phenomenal. The story kept adding layers of complexity. The characters were exceptional. Production quality was amazing, too. The ending... was very satisfying.

The only thing I could complain about would be the stream of extreme profanity. Nevertheless, in terms of filmmaking/art...

The Scarlet Pimpernel

Stupendously entertaining and amusing, stunningly well-acted, and far and away the best made-for-TV film I have ever seen. The only marks I have against it are the lackluster direction and the fact that this French story is filled with British actors. A-

Leaving Las Vegas

This is the movie that has finally made me respect Nicholas Cage as an actor. One of my friends says something interesting about Mr. Cage: "He's not a bad actor, but every movie that he's in, he freaks out and becomes completely unbelievable." Well, not so with Leaving Las Vegas. Cage is completely believable as a drunk and depressed man.

He plays Ben, a former Hollywood agent who loses his wife and job and moves to Las Vegas on a fat severance check to drink himself to death. There, he meets Sera, a prostitute, and what follows is a love story of sorts. It is very much a story of archetypes, with Cage playing the drunk and Elizabeth Shue playing the prostitute with a heart of gold. Thing is, the acting is phenomenal even if the story falls into predictability sometimes. Because of this, the viewer has an immediate emotional connection with the characters, even if what they do and their lack of action towards saving each other is despicable.

I've heard this film described as a movie about dependency (regarding to addiction), and this is very true. The self destruction that the two characters inflict upon themselves is painful to watch, especially because of the obvious love and caring that the two feel for each other. Ultimately, however, Leaving Las Vegas neither feels like a cautionary tale nor a glorification of lifestyles. It simply shows what's happening and asks the viewer to draw their own conclusions about it.

I liked that the film focused on the survival of a group instead of the monster and how they were gonna get rid of it (see: Godzilla). Aside from that... pretty meh. I... can't even give it a grade.
