When I say this, try not to take offense folks. But the 2DS is designed to be replaceable and bought by grandparents for their kids for Christmas. The kind of grand parents (and I mean the best when I say this) wouldn't know a DS from a 3DS. It is Nintendo's way of putting the 3DS in more hands, that's all it is. But if you don't want to spend the 200.00 on a 3DS, buy a 2DS but be weary that it shares one screen for it's dual screen action. The dual screen on the 2DS is just a plastic cover unfortunately.

Agreed. Sinow, you make it sound so horrific when it really changes nothing. I think it's cool, actually.
I'm planning on getting a 2DS rather than a 3DS, since I'd be paying $40 for a function I'd only use when showing other people. I move around a lot when gaming, play at odd angles, and wear glasses...none of those things are conducive to 3D. Plus, that gives me $40 to spend on games. <3

You're missing the point by a mile. If one part of the screen breaks, all of the screen is useless. It's kind've like buying the cheapy tablet over the better tablet because it's cheaper. Cheaper doesn't always mean good, sometimes it means too breakable. With that said, I've often considered trading my 3DS XL in for the zelda bundle lol.

Makes sense... I almost wanted a 2DS until now.

Not sure which screen is cheaper to replace but the 3DS is a pain in the but to fix, we have fixed the DS lites but the 3DS we send to someone else....
I'd rather get the 3DS XL in the end anyway to be honest. I enjoy the special features the 3D looks boss. But I'll say that it's realy hard to refuse that zelda-styled 3DS XL (YES, VEIN i KNOW...)

I saw it. It's just not a very effective point. Because it's not like you can play a 3DS with a broken screen either. XD So you're going to have to replace at least one screen either way; perhaps both, with a 3DS, in the event of a catastrophic failure.blacksinow wrote:You're missing the point by a mile. That aside, I haven't seen any evidence that the 2DS is more prone to screen breakage than a 3DS. After all, my PSP (and the PS Vita) only have one screen, and seem to do just fine. I've actually heard multiple times that it's a bit stronger, even bulkier.
So in this case, cheaper may actually be better. It's like buying a Nokia over an iPhone.

The 2DS has a mono speaker and the 3DS has the superior speaker system (and audio is insanely important to me). That said, it is still a hassle if the joined screen breaks. But you ARE correct, it isn't AS big of a hassle. I was simply stating that having two screens would be better (depending on the age of the player)

But I don't think there's any discernible difference between having one or two screens. You'd never know unless you took the thing apart.blacksinow wrote:The 2DS has a mono speaker and the 3DS has the superior speaker system (and audio is insanely important to me). I'm sort of meh on the audio. I play it muted, or with headphones.

I don't like having to cut down on features to save money. I'd rather spend the money for an XL. Also, the 3DSXL is more portable.

Well...how else are you going to save money? I've not seen an XL lower than $250. I tend to be more cost minded than feature minded, so to me, I'm happy to lose 3D and a cheap speaker and gain $40-$170 to spend on games. You don't have to be; but you gotta stop trolling on the 2DS for no real reason just because you don't like it.
I might as well get on the internet and start complaining about cooked spinach.
Also, no. Unless you have very tiny pockets and/or carry your DS everywhere in said tiny pockets. I tend to leave mine in the car/bag anyway, so again, the size is a null point for me. Regardless, I wear cargo shorts, so I could probably fit the 2DS and a few snacks into my pockets, and have room for a drink. It's plenty portable as long as you aren't wearing skinny jeans or dress pants.
Essentially, the 2DS is perfect for me. The 3DS would be nice...but it's not really worth paying $40 for. If I was going to pay more for something, it'd be the XL. But that's only if I wanted to blow my entire budget for an inch or so of screen.

I got mine over QVC and split the payments. I might have had to pay more over time, but that is over time and I can afford that much easier then slamming that 250.00 on the counter all at once. But each of these have their own respective points.
