Have you played Freelancer? It's a space action/RPG type game that I'd highly recommend - it can get a little repetitive at times, but it has excellent space combat and a nice variety of things to do, it also should be pretty cheap as well.

Oh, man, good call on Freelancer. That game was great.

Final Fantasy XIII-2. You will not regret it.

Unless, of course, you're just not the type of person that likes Final Fantasy games.
