Can someone please tell me about emulation?

I'm afraid I can't link you sites without falling into some legal gray area. However, I can suggest that you should use proxies and virus scanners. Google is your best friend.

Is it illegal if I download the original version because I can't get it? For example, say I wanted to download a Dreamcast game to emulate it. They don't make games for Dreamcast anymore, but is it still illegal?

As we've said, this is more a question of morality rather than legality. Is the game ever likely to be re-released? Was it ever released where you live? Could you pick it up at a local game store?
