Embarrassed by his wild, undisciplined swing, Guy only mutters "Speak for yourself."

Guy sets up to strike again with his longsword.

Initiative: [dice]0[/dice]

Attack roll (Longsword): [dice]1[/dice]

Brokan runs to join the fray. His mind is still reeling from rage, so he barely registers the presence of other warriors on the field. He sees the undead monster and closes in for the attack, aiming for the creature's back flank.

As he rushes onto the scene, a stream of froth runs from his mouth, trailing behind him like a banner. He screams: "I AM THE HATRED IN THE WIND! I AM THE ROCK THAT SPLITS THE SKULL OF INFIDELITY!"

initiative:

[dice]0[/dice]

If Brokan can get close enough to attack, he does. Otherwise he gets as close to the monster's flank as he can.

Just in case:

attack roll (scimitar):

[dice]1[/dice]

Damage

[dice]2[/dice]
Brokan Mok

((doh! I thought I read dagger! you used a crossbow, so you get your ranged bonus applied to the attack roll, which means it was 1d20+4, which gave you a 23))

Yea no problem.

The fury of combat is all consuming. Kratimos, Brokan, and guy all swing and the creature stumbles backward weapons barely missing their lethal mark. The creature lunges forward, claws coming to bear as they scratch the surface of Kagor's armor. A second claw flies forward only to be pinned back by the bolt fired by Crimson. Minather steps forward, from behind his armored companions he swings his staff connecting with the skull of the evil creature forcing it back a few feet.

((House rule, staffs now have the reach ability if used to bludgeon an enemy when standing behind an ally. I don't get why spears have reach but a staff doesn't. If this completely throws off the game element, we'll come back to it later, but for now let's see how it works. Plus, Minather can enter combat without standing in a threatened square.))

Round 3 summary in order of initiative:
Kratimos-miss
Brokan-miss
Guy-miss
Creature-miss
Crimson-Hit
Kagor-miss
Minather-hit

((For Round 4-As before, please have all rolls and initiative roll in the same post. If you miss a roll or get a crit and forget to confirm, I will be glad to fill in the blanks.))

CCGR, (Ironwizard and TS for confirmation)
Spoiler:
If I'm not mistaken, if you fire into melee you take a -4 penalty to your attack as well. What that means is that on a normal ranged attack when firing into melee combat, you would roll 1d20 not 1d20+4. You can negate the -4 penalty by taking the feats point blank shot and then taking precise shot. If you are using ranged combat as an alternative to your primary fighting style (you prefer melee over ranged) then don't worry about it, it's just there for backup.

Spoiler:
With the house rule in place, you can use your quarterstaff to attack behind your allies. That way, if you don't have spells you are still effective in combat. The better the weapons you get, the better you will do. Honestly, I like the Gandalf perspective of a wizard (using a sword and staff...awesome!) and have never been too keen on "wizards cant use weapons." I will have to see how it works, but we'll find a way for you to be able to do more in the combat round.
Pic for everyone ( end of round 3 placement)

If you have a symbol or something that you want as a tile, let me know and I can change your character. The tiles I used were just basic archetypes of what I gleaned from what your character would look like or a good token to represent them (the roman helmet for Kratimos for instance.

What else is there do do but swing again? This time backed by a mighty cry to the Forge Father...

Attack (Warhammer):
[dice]0[/dice]

Damage:
[dice]1[/dice]

Confirm (Crit x3):
[dice]2[/dice]

...and striking home, his blow guided by the hand of his Deity, striking with the force of Moradin's own hammer.

Spoiler:
Yeah, firing into melee takes a -4 penalty. In addition, if you miss, there is a chance that you might hit another engaged combatant. Thus, it can be kind of risky.

As the best still seems to have plenty of fight left in it, and hungry for his blade to taste the blood of the foe, Guy lunges again, summoning his concentration, remembering the teachings of his swordmaster.

Brokan, on the verge of totally losing self-awareness, doesn't even seem to notice the other combatants surrounding the monster. All he sees is a walking abomination that should be fertilizing the roots but is instead preying on the innocent. Brokan's speech becomes so thick with malice that it can barely escape his throat. Chunky, rabid froth spills down his jaw with every word.

"Ahy . . . need . . . yugh . . . tuh . . . DIE . . ."

Brokan hacks away at the monster again:

Attack Roll scimitar: [dice]0[/dice]

Damage: [dice]1[/dice]

Edit: Fathom, doesn't the same initiative order apply through the whole encounter?
