The Zombie Slayers Launch, Bringing Zany Zombie Mayhem to a PC Near You

Get ready to throw everything you have at the undead, including turrets, mines, and babies

[Azerbaijan] – October 31, 2025 – Solo developer Rashad Ibrahimli and indie.io are proud to announce that The Zombie Slayers have just deployed to Steam, bringing together hordes of undead, top-down cooperative shooter mechanics, and a completely unhinged sense of humor that will leave players chortling - even as the local hulk introduces their character to the concept of compressing a very large human into a very small blood sausage.

Players confront zombies in teams of up to six survivors forced to brave the apocalyptic world after the undead apocalypse, sporting customizable outfits ranging from reasonable to ridiculous. Together, their goal is to complete each level's objectives while keeping each other alive and in fighting shape. At their disposal is an arsenal of firearms, explosives, placeable defenses, and followers up to and including babies. Airdropped by a stork, these little bundles of love waste no time bringing zombies to a painful and only slightly disgusting end. Like other defenses, they need periodic reloading - with milk bottles - introducing a layer of strategic fighting to every defense scenario.

Every level played yields experience, which can be used to unlock ever more fabulous outfits to dispatch zombies in style, make for an easier start of the game, or to spend on fuzzy animal companions to keep players company in the bloody fight across an empty earth. Players will visit familiar locales, such as the local gas station and office building, a shipping harbor, or, say, a nuclear power plant. Each location has its own overarching goal, such as to locate fuel and supplies for the evacuation vehicle or stop a nuclear meltdown (the nuclear power plant was not built to spec, something about "not anticipating zombie plagues"), providing players with an exciting mix of survival run-and-gun, exploration, and desperate defense waves.

Those who don't feel like hanging out with friends in a zombie apocalypse can enjoy the game solo, backed up by up to three computer-controlled survivors who will do everything in their power to help players along in their goals. Likewise, those who would just like to get to slaughtering comedic amounts of zombies can enjoy the aptly named Brutal Zombie Waves mode which is, well, about fighting off brutal zombie waves for as long as possible. High scores are a matter of public knowledge: Friends can compete to see just who is the best about surviving a zombie apocalypse (note, no guarantee given of skill in game translating to real-world survival skills, mileage may vary).

“Most zombie games tend to lean toward horror, darkness, and a mystical atmosphere,” remarks Rashad, reflecting on the offbeat nature of the game. “There aren’t many zombie games that are lighthearted or fun, so I wanted to create one with a playful, humorous, and absurd tone - and so I did it!”

Ready to save your team from zombies and look fabulous while doing it? The Zombie Slayers is now available on Steam for $6.99 USD, launching with a 20% discount to celebrate its chaotic debut. Stay tuned for more mayhem from solo dev Rashad Ibrahimli on X/Twitter or Instagram.
