Mind-bending Puzzle Adventure Game MotionRec Launches on Steam Today

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2602230/MotionRec/

First Release in Indie Publisher PLAYISM’s Fall Lineup Offers Multiple Bundles Including Collection of HANDSUM’s Favorite Indie Titles; “Cling to Blindness” and “Million Depth” to Follow in November

TOKYO – Oct. 27, 2025 – PLAYISM, the Japanese independent publishing company known for bringing games from independent developers to players around the world, today launched the first game from its fall lineup: MotionRec, a cassette tape-themed puzzle game. Developed by indie studio HANDSUM, MotionRec blends rhythm, action and puzzling where players must find creative ways to record and playback movements to solve puzzles.

To celebrate the launch of MotionRec, the game’s original soundtrack, featuring 21 melodic lo-fi tracks that capture the calm and reflective atmosphere of Rec’s journey, is also available today in the Steam Store for $6.99 USD. Players can purchase the soundtrack together with the game for a 10% discount for both.

The aforementioned collaboration bundle features two fan-favorite games MotionRec developer HANDSUM admires: CATO: Buttered Cat, an adorable puzzle platformer, inspired by the buttered-cat paradox meme; and Öoo, a charming yet mysterious exploration puzzle platformer where players discover creative ways to use bombs. All three games are offered in one bundle at 10% off their original price.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, MotionRec follows the journey of a robot named Rec as it navigates a devastated world ruled by machines, attempting to record the history of civilization. Record the trajectory of Rec’s movements as it navigates platforms and other areas it travels across. When in a space where there is nothing to jump on, players can play back Rec’s movements to pass through. The possibilities to play back and interact with the unique levels are endless.

Following MotionRec’s release today, PLAYISM’s fall indie line up will feature Cling to Blindness, an audio horror game from independent developer Lizardry, where players can only rely on audio cues to survive, and Million Depth, an action strategy game that bends time and reality.
