Crusader Kings III Celebrates Its Fifth Birthday

Popular Paradox Strategy Game Marks Half a Decade of Royal Pains

STOCKHOLM - 01 SEPTEMBER 2025 - Crusader Kings III marked its fifth birthday today. The fan favorite medieval role-playing strategy game was released on this day in 2020, meaning it’s been five years of dynasty building, family squabbles, holy pilgrimages and the occasional murder.

To mark the event, Paradox Interactive has published an infographic with some keys statistics and information about this majestic game:
“Five years have gone by so fast,” says Crusader Kings III Game Director Alexander Oltner. “We launched Crusader Kings III at the height of the Covid pandemic, so the last stages of development added an extra layer of pressure on the team. That the game has been such a success is testimony to both the hard work of my colleagues and the passion of the community at large.”

Over the last five years, Crusader Kings III has been purchased by over four million people across platforms. Since release, Crusader Kings III has been expanded with over two dozen add-ons, both big and small, and will soon see its largest expansion ever with All Under Heaven, a major expansion that almost doubles the size of the map and adds a lot of new Asian themed content. Initially designed for the PC, the game has also found an audience on both Xbox Series X|S Consoles and the Playstation 5.
