Midwest Games Reveals November 12 Release Date for Wild West Soulslike Tombwater
Prepare to journey down a dark and dusty road, partners
Green Bay, WI (September 2, 2025) | Today, publisher Midwest Games — an industry veteran-led team that provides publishing services to better support developers — and Max Mraz of Moth Atlas announced the November 12 release date for 2D souls-like action RPG Tombwater. Revealed during the Best Indie Games Showcase 2025, players will soon set forth into the Wild West town cursed with madness and plagued by Eldritch monsters.
Enter Tombwater, where shadows lurk and whispers echo from the deep of abandoned silver mines. This is no longer a town where people live, but a town where people die. A once-thriving community, its people have now been gripped by the tendrils of madness. Step into the well-worn boots of a lone gunslinger, drawn to the eerie, decaying streets by the disappearance of Sheriff Elliott Flintwood — a long-lost friend who’s fought to save the town. Uncover the truth by facing unforgettable terrors and fighting through the madness.
Inspired by classics like the early The Legend of Zelda entries and compared by outlets to the cult-followed Red Dead Redemption, the 2D souls-like action RPG is developed by Moth Atlas from Max Mraz and Jake Wagner. Mraz is best known for previous titles Ocean’s Heart and Yarntown, a ‘demake’ of Bloodborne and direct predecessor to Tombwater.
Players can look forward to about 20 hours of gameplay, exploring Tombwater’s extensive map and battling horrifying bosses along the way. The game provides a variety of combat options, including melee attacks, firearms, spells, charms, and more.
Key Features of Tombwater:
2D Top-Down Souls-Like: Journey through the souls-like genre from a whole new perspective. Experience nostalgic, gruesomely detailed pixel art in a top-down view with every classic souls-like mechanic.
Map & Quest Log: Keep track of your progress as you explore the interconnected Wild West world of Tombwater with a map and quest log.
Apothecary Crafting: Helpful tonics, explosives, and more can be crafted from materials you find while exploring to help aid you in battle .
Gruesome Boss Fights: Experience 20+ horrifying boss battles that will threaten to drive you to madness.
Tombwater launches November 12, 2025, on Windows PC via Steam. If you can’t wait that long, the Tombwater demo is available now to try, plus you can sign up to participate in a playtest opening soon.
