Real-Time Tactics and Colorful Chaos: Medievaly: Battle Simulator Launches Today on Steam

[Malta, July 16, 2025] – Steelkrill Studio, the solo developer behind the psychological horror hit The Backrooms 1998, launches Medievaly: Battle Simulator, a vibrant real-time strategy experience that swaps jump scares for tactical warfare. Now available on PC via Steam, the game debuts at USD 8.99 with a 20% launch discount.

Medievaly: Battle Simulator pairs intuitive controls with demanding real-time strategy. Every match unfolds without pause as players deploy troops, manage resources, and adapt tactics on the fly to outmaneuver unpredictable enemies. Unlike many automated battle simulators, the game demands constant involvement and quick decision-making. Each choice—where to send archers, when to release elephants, whether to defend or advance—can tip the balance between victory and defeat.

A wide roster of distinctive units adds depth to every encounter, turning each battlefield into a dynamic puzzle of risk and reward. Archers hold flanks and soften enemy lines, siege rams batter down castle gates, and war elephants charge through tight formations. Even humble farmers gather gold mid-battle to fund reinforcements. Here, players aren’t just spectators; they’re generals, engineers, and strategists all at once. With no single approach guaranteed to succeed twice, survival requires careful planning and the flexibility to react in the moment.

Multiple modes invite players to test their tactical thinking. In Campaign Mode, a series of handcrafted scenarios become layered puzzles of positioning, timing, and escalation. Skirmishes grow from small village clashes into large-scale sieges across richly detailed, stylized battlefields. Completed missions can be revisited through Level Select, offering a chance to refine approaches and experiment with new tactics.

For full creative freedom, Sandbox Mode enables custom battles with control over units, maps, and objectives. Players can select Castle Siege, where victory means destroying the enemy fortress; Time Survival, which challenges them to hold out until reinforcements arrive; or Kill Count, a race to eliminate 100 enemy troops first.

Meanwhile, Survival Mode delivers pure endurance. A relentless ten-minute assault escalates in intensity, pushing resource management and reflexes to the limit.

“While horror has always been a passion of mine, I felt it was time to take a creative risk and try something completely different,” says the developer. “I’ve always loved low-poly aesthetics and real-time strategy, and Medievaly is the result of stepping out of my comfort zone. It looks colorful and welcoming, but it plays seriously; every decision matters.”

Medievaly: Battle Simulator is available now on Steam for USD 8.99, with a 20% launch discount for a limited time. Players can gather their forces, build their defenses, and test their strategies against relentless real-time battles.
